Am I the only one that has actually cried with despair after reading this? I mean, good god, how can you POSSIBLY make a movie based on an MMO with a timeline that extends for thousands of years?

I think we need to assassinate Raimi.

"Ezio, get here now."
It all depends on the writers skill. Writing to a WOW theme has been done before, look at Looking For a Group!

Not that I hate Raimi... aside from the AWFUL Spider Man 3......

Really? People are excited about a WoW movie..... Really? Good God, just cut the shit already.

Please, take note now, and when it is released... let me know how it feels to eagerly await a complete, epic failure.

Also, ALMOST every video game movie made so far has sucked... why anyone would be surprised if this one did too is beyond me. And for the record, the Halo movie will suck, the Castlevania movie will suck, and if they ever decide to buckle down and make it, the new Mortal Kombat movie will suck.

Oh yeah... and Spyro... that one will suck too!
Hitman was good...
And Silent Hill had efforts (they used every sound and texture from the games to pack it into the movies...)

But with the upcoming Movies I am on your side...
They will clearly suck...
Because they always try to make a new "aspect" of the game, as if it wouldn't cope, that they use the original story (no matter how bad it is)...

Sad...

One one side Gamers are the freaks of the nation, on the other they try everything to make money from this "new" sub-culture...
Can't they decide?

Did any of you read? It is based on the Warcraft universe, not "WoW".

Either way I doubt it will be any good. I am however interested in what events they plan on putting into the movie. Will it be the rise of the Horde? Arthas' rise and fall? I think the only safe way to do this movie would be to base it off some of the books that are out.

They managed to make a puzzlingly popular dronefest out of some basement grade loserness.

If they can do that, why, this task seems somewhat trivial.

Eugh, I respect your opinion, but IMHO Hitman was awful. Why was he trying to 'get his life back'? As a Hitman, he isn't supposed to have a life, or even have people know who he is. Hitman 2 had him reforming before he got back into the game, but he did no such thing in this film.

"There is an organisation. An organisation so secret no one even knows it exists." Once I heard that, I died a little inside.

You know, in the times of despair, the dragon eats flies...

I said good, not great...
And that's the point, we are so used to the fact, that movies based on videogames are fucking awesome BAD, that I for my part just got with the idea, that it is okay...
Nothing more...

But your comment is too true...
It had it's logical failures and his "I like this prostitute, maybe I should look over her my whole fucking life" was just stupid...
What bothered me, was that he was not a "man-made" Killing Machine, but an trained orphane...
Come on...
That's just to ridiculous...

And btw, there are people on the internet who respect the opinion of other and are able to communicate without the over-usage of the word "n00b"?

You, sir, destroyed my view on the internet...
Thanks for that...
:)

the whole idea seems a bit...well bad to me yes i am a wow player and hell yes i enjoy the game a lot =D but the idea of a movie based on a game (i am basing my opinion here on wow and not the warcraft games since i haven't played them) it just seems to spell disaster in my mind =(

Er, why "world of" warcraft movie, instead of just warcraft. Is there somthing about the movie that links it indelibly to the MMO over the RTS or is it just because the MMO is more popular.
It's actually just called "Warcraft". Look it up on IMDB.

I love Sam Raimi. It's not like he hasn't been able to do fantasy. Look at Hercules and Xena. He had a small budget, but managed to make them entertaining without looking like complete shit.

Maybe his brother Ted can revive his role as Joxer :D

Maybe the movie will consist of Bruce Campbell running around the Undercity killing the Forsaken while they all go "WTF"?

EDIT: 'Cause I are dumb

This is good news, but for some reason I'm still afraid the movie will take itself too seriously.

Ummm... uhhhh..ummmm..I really don't know what to say about this. Although nobody thought Rami would do good with spiderman either. Yea beside the atrocity that the 3rd on was you have to admit they were good. You can't judge him by one shitty comic book movie that really the production was taken mostly out of his hands and hes admitted that. anyway. I do have some faith, hercules, xena, and legend of the seeker all got better with age. Actually LotS was fantastic, better then herc and xena combined.

Charles Roven is an excellent choice for producer. So far it seems they will be taking the more darker approach on all of this. Its a big enough story and timeline where they could essentially do anything. I'll wait for a trailer to pass judgement. But seriously people. It could be worse.

I regret any enthusiasm I'm initially feeling right now, but I can't argue with that. If Rami makes a movie then Bruce Campell is going to be in it. While I am a big fan of both Warcraft and more importantly Bruce Campell, seriously no one can take a punch or spout "Groovy!" like that guy, there are going to be repercussions on this. Like the undeniable fact that comes of combining video games and movies.
Seriously, at best the movie adaptations that come of this are tolerable but lets face it the majority are big steaming piles of diarrhea garnished elephant droppings, I'm looking at you Boll.
