He stood, motionless, observing the world below with his arms folded. A condescending smirk crossed his features for a moment. The hint of emotion was gone as soon as it had arrived, slowly turning as explosions and various other signs of warfare erupted across the grey-white planet.

Inquisitor Grail Deslin shook his head with a sigh as brought himself back to reality, facing the Captain behind him, eyeing him for a moment curiously. The man was unusually pale. He hadn't taken to warp travel well, it seemed. He had been promoted to captain of the Benazir through money and social status, and appeared to be largely dependent upon the advice of his lessers in his competence. Through all that, he seemed strangely effective as a leader, despite his aforementioned illness.

The Inquisitor nodded slowly.
"I want you to send a message through the crew. I'm looking for volunteers to go down to the surface. Preferably ones with martial experience, possibly ex-guard or private security. We'll be down there for some time. I'll also need a vox operator and someone with medical training. I'd rather not have anyone seconded to us from the guard regiments down there, they're too busy fighting."
This last point cut off any protest the young captain had been about to make, his respectful, but shaky nod letting Deslin know he'd rather not, but he wasn't about to complain to an Inquisitor.
"Good. Thankyou, Captain. And don't hesitate to send your best. They'll need to be good to survive down there. Make sure they're given access to your armoury, too."
He gave the planet, Imperator Dolus, one last fleeting glance before striding out of the room, heading to his quarters.

First RP I've tried to run on this site, so I hope it goes down alright.

To sum it up simply:

Imperator Dolus was a major industrial world in a relatively minor sector until a sudden rebellion defeated the planet's PDF before they had chance to mobilize. Several guard regiments were sent to quell the rebellion, but after sightings of daemons on the planet surface, the Inquisition sent a team to investigate the possibility of the ruinous powers having caused the uprising, and if necessary, destroy all traces of the chaos taint. Seconded to the team is a large transport ship, the Benazir.
Inquisitor Grail Deslin has asked for volunteers from the ship's crew in investigating the situation, his own team already spread too thin.

Character Sheets here:

Name:
Age: (No rejuvenat processes)
Rank:
Appearance: (Characters will be wearing grey navy fatigues under any other clothing or armour they may decide to wear.)
Planet of Birth:
Skills:
Previous Experience: ( Were they in the guard? Have they ever fought before? How well did they do in training? Etc.)
Weaponry:
Notes: (Anything you want to add.)

Hope this goes well, and I hope y'all enjoy it. Try not to get too attached to your characters - It wouldn't be 40K if it wasn't brutal, a lot of them may end up dead. ;)

Reserve! ... I'm gonna finish reading and them promptly jiggle up my sheet :)

Character Sheet:

Name: Lucas Stephen.

Age: 27

Rank: Sgt. Stephen.

Appearance: 4'8, 83kgs. Dark brown hair over his ears and a mustache. Over the naval uniform he wears a light combat kevlar vest, strengthened with titanium, reaching from chin (yes it goes over the chin) down to the thighs. Arms and legs have light armor around them, flexible but sturdy. He wears black combat boots for mud and water, and other terrains. Underneath the armor around the chin, he carries a small scar, along with a few scars on his arms.

Planet of Birth: Terra.

Skills: He carries great skill in the use of sniper rifles and single shot sub-machine guns. Also has rough experience with combat medicine.

Previous Experience: He did mildly good in the combat training, but after this, he signed up for special Marksman training and aced it. His motto is "1bullet 1kill", and therefore has trained his mind and fingers to acquire a target, will it be via scope or no scope, he'll do his best to make the shot count.

Weaponry: Exitus Rifle on his back and a Raptor-IV Recoiless machine gun on a giant holster covering his right leg.

Notes: Not that I can think of.

Why not, an RP where my character can be killed off quickly actually works in my best interests at the moment :D

I'll get my sheet up ASAP

Icelandicgamer, you're accepted, if you see about some slightly more 'lore-friendly' weaponry. Remember to refer to Earth as Terra or Holy Terra.

And Aloran, I don't mean I'll have PCs dying every five minutes, it's just a possibility, since I'm trying to be "Realistic" with this, like if your character actively risks their life by doing something stupid or incredibly risky, rambo style. Better than a team of invincible gods, right?

Yeah I know I know, I just meant that I have exams coming up so if I know that I'll be doing a lot of revision I can make him do something silly :)

Also: Are we allowed anything like a Space Marine on a Death Oath? or is it restricted to the general human populace?

Regular ol' humans for now, sorry. Although I was considering having a Marine chapter show up later on in the story, so if you've killed your character off by then but want to come back, feel free at that point.

Okay...One other question: Will a primarily melee focused character find himself getting killed very quickly? (of course he'd have pistols and whatnot, but I'd rather my character being somewhat of a berserker esque figure...I was thinking his planet would be Fenris)

If he works efficiently with it and doesn't charge across open ground etc, he'll be likely to live.

And GreatCoolEnergy, pretty much, for now. More forces are going to become involved as the RP goes on. Sorry if you were hoping for some power armour. :)

*sigh* alright. I've always liekd guardsmen I suppose. But recently my characters have all been too human.

Can I be an inquisitor?

You could be part of the Inquisition team, but Deslin was the only Inquisitor the Imperium sent, soooo... Sorry. Although if you're willing to take a lower Inquisition rank, you can.

Hmmm...an RP with realistic combat tactics and with a fair deal of brutality, my evil side is loving this right now.

Quick question, how much do I need to know about the Warhammer mythos to apply?

All's good, that's accepted.

Exictednuke: A little background knowledge would help, but I'm sure you'll pick a lot up as it goes along. Everyone needs to start somewhere.

But, I looked up Warhammer 40k weapons, and those are from the game.. The raptor-IV is a small machine gun, kind of like an MP5 in size, and the Exitus rifle is a sniper rifle, much like the Barret 50.cal

Sorry, I should've been a bit more detailed there, I meant the Exitus is used exclusively by Vindicare assassins, aaand I can't seem to find anything about a raptor IV, mind linking me the page? ^_^
