I'm planning to spend some money on a couple of games for my 360 since i bored out my mind with the games I have now (Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, GTA, Assassin's Creed, Mirrors Edge & Oblivion)

The kind of games I enjoy most are sandbox games. Preferably ones where I don't HAVE to do missions all the time. I can just jump in a car/horse/whatever and cruise around with no particular goal other than exploring. For example, I enjoy playing Grand Theft Auto without even touching the missions. I could spend hours just driving around the city. Being able to go on violent rampages also had a major appeal to me too. So, a combination of those two would be great.

I also quite like RPG games, like Oblivion, that give me a freedom to kind of "live" a life outside of my own in an almost Sims-like fashion with less stress.

Anyone know of any games like that?
By the way, don't just fire a name into a post, tell me a wee bit about it! :)

If you haven't already, try Fallout 3.
It has a massive land to explore, challenging and has some of the best music of any game today. (Once you do a certain mission, anyway.)

Saints Row II .. or just Saints Row. OR BOTH!

Dammit, beat to it. But seriously, consider those two games.

Crackdown and Dead Rising are both really fun sandbox games. I've had an almost unhealthy amount of enjoyment from both of them.

Crackdown lets you be a cybernetically enhanced cop tasked with taking down three gangs spread throughout the city. You can actually do that, or you can just run around the city blowing things up, jumping over buildings, getting in massive gunfights, throwing cars at people, etc.

Dead Rising traps you in a zombie infested mall and lets you use pretty much anything you can pick up as a weapon against them. Gory, funny, and really addictive.

Saints Row 1/2
Prototype
Crackdown
Dead Rising

Personally, Saints Row 2 is verrry fun and has nice content. It's one of the FEW games that has been released in the past 4 years which you won't finish in 5 hours like everything else been spat out.

Get a gaming computer. Buy Oblivion

Talk to me about mods
What about GarrysMod? Now THAT is a sandbox. Never tried Oblivion tough, I sure would like too.

The best on the 360 is Saints Row, you can even be a ninja.
If you live in America you can get Crackdown and then that expansion that gives the player the possibility to spawn stuff. I dont know if the download is still up

Err, there are so many nowadays, I'd definitely recommend Dead Rising, you can spend hours just finding new ways to kill zombies, Fallout 3, this game is massive and will keep you entertained for ages, Saints Row 2, for some unsophisticated fun and Borderlands, purely because I am currently addicted to it. If you liked Oblivion, then Fallout 3 is probably your best bet.
