So after 4 years the first season of SAO Abridged has come to an end. And my god is it great. It took a shit tier 2/10 shitty anime and somehow through just a few creative edits and changing the script turned it into a masterpiece.

I mean seriously Kirito has an actual personality? The drama isn't forced? Characters have logical (if often stupid) motivations? My god, if I could buy this on BluRay I would. I just hope the episodes don't continue to take so damn long to be made.

The final episode was amazing. I was laughing, crying, crying from laughter, and as it wrapped up it felt like I was being rewarded for watching the whole thing, because as it turns out, jokes from older episodes were actually plot. That's like, proper foreshadowing and a thought-out plot structure! In Sword Art Online!

It'd be fine if they left it at this (which the original should have done), as the story is now neatly wrapped up. But on the other hand... there's so much SAO left to make fun of! And I want to see if they can transform that into something coherent as well.

I actively tell my customers that SAO Abridged is better than the SAO DVD I sell[footnote]I may be terrible at business[/footnote], and I genuinely believe that. I loved everything about it, and can't wait to see if we get an ALfheim Online abridged.

Oh how badly the redhead's stoic face and her voice's enthusiastic delivery match together. How was that like in the original?

It's amazing that they made the Kirito and Asuna relationship fit better and be so much more entertaining than before, which isn't a BIG feat, but... I certainly didn't expect character bonds to be so much better in an abridged series. Also, they cut down the Yui stuff into one episode, and it has more impact with the way they did it. Absolute A+ work

I personally loved it. It was awesome, funny, heartwarming, and even a bit tearjerky. It's kinda sad when a fan-made work is SO much better than the original...

It's always fun to see how people have taken a bucket of hot shit and forged it hotter (in a good way) than it could ever hope to be. The very last movie reference was pretty good too (given it's supposedly accidental). Holy shit did that take a while, though. Nice job anyhow. 'No loading in heaven' was a great quip too.

gotta say, this was an incredible series, definitely on par with TFS's latest work. can't comment on how much it improved over the original since I never saw it myself, but it does seem like a humongous step up from what I've heard of it. Can't wait for season 2 to come around.

I was wondering if anyone would bring this up.

Anyway, I'll say that I don't hate SA:O. The concept is pretty awesome if nothing else. However, I agree with others when they say that it isn't a great series. There's plenty I think could have been done better. The initial arc ended a little abruptly if you ask me.

That being said, SA:O Abridged is easily among my favorite abridged series. Just behind DBZA and YTAS. Not only is it funny, but the characterization is amazing. Better than the original. Hell, there were moments that I felt more emotion regarding a parody than the original.

I really just wish Tiff had more of a role in the series from here on out. He seems to just disappear from this point on. And I want more of him and Asuna interacting. I see no reason not to continue the series. It's even implied at the end of the last episode.

And if you want another quality Abridge to check out, look up Bleach (S) Abridged by BlazingAzureCrow. Do it because the man doesn't want you to. Go ahead. Be bad.
