So after reading through the forum topic on the latest Jimquisition (Dynasty Warriors is the Citizen Kane of gaming), and seeing just how many people who takes Jim seriously, calling him out that there's no way DW can be the Citizen Kane of gaming etc. etc.(And laughing heartily at all the angry outbursts) I've realised that jokes and sarcasm not getting through to the audience is not just a problem in written works. It's appearantly a problem in general, which leads me to believe it's the people that's the problem. I have no problem detecting jokes and sarcasm in written articles (most of the time), and even more so in videos or podcasts.

So what's your opinion on this? Are people simply not capable of registering jokes or sarcasm in general? Or could it be people taking Jims outrageous character in the Jimquisition for the actual Jim Sterling? Or do I simply have a really lame superpower?

TL, DR: I thought people not being able to detect sarcasm or jokes was mostly a problem in written works, appearantly not?

Yeah I've known about this since my earliest days on The Escapist, especially as I'm someone who takes things quite seriously:

Internet + Sarcasm = Shitstorm.

This is actually a useful super power, unlike mine. (I can always discern, at a glance, whether someone is wearing contact lenses.)

I find putting '/sarcasm' at the end works well to imply sarcasm, or Emphasis on certain words to imply sarcasm.
