I had just sat down to rest after the battle, but I didn't have a chance. One of the soldiers, the one who had lost it in the first battle, seemed to be going crazy again. Then I realized what was happening to him was the same thing tha happened to Alfred: The Devil was speaking through him. The next thing I knew, my face was pressed in the dirt as bullets whizzed over my head. That wasn't much of a break.
I peered ahead and saw a horde of demons slowly advancing towards us, firing an assortment of guns. I knew I was screwed; I barely had any ammunition left, certainly not enough to fight these things off. Then, my attention was directed towards a beautiful sight: A pile of weapons had appeared next to us. All sorts of weapons. I scrambled over to it joyously, still under fire, and looked for the weapon of my choice. I settled on an impressive and advanced looking machine gun (an MG42). I grabbed it-it was heavy-and the strips of ammo that seemed to go with it, and set it up on the ground facing the horde of demons. I began firing, and a smile lit up my face as dozens of enemies fell before my stream of bullets.
A few minutes later, and I'm again convinced that we're screwed. We had been doing pretty well, and with the help of a mortar we were managing to hold off the never-ending swarms of demons. However, several explosions in the sky directed my eyes upwards and made my heart sink. Demons were falling from the sky in parachutes. I had heard of parachutes but never seen one used. Where were these things falling from? Worse yet, the things exploded as they were shot. Whatever was making them explode, I knew I didn't want them down here.
I clumsily managed to aim my machine gun upwards and started shooting down the parachuting demons. However my machine gun's barrel was starting to smoke more than it had before, the accuracy of the bullets was decreasing, and it was making a different noise when it fired. Damn, it's gotten too hot. The barrel's melting. I was soon left with an inoperable weapon, with enemies dropping from the sky and the swarms of demons on the ground advancing ever closer.
Suddenly, rays of light pierced the dark sky. I couldn't see where they hit the ground, as smoke appeared from the floor and blocked my view. One of our soldiers-the half insane one-sprinted into the smoke and disappeared. What the hell is going on now?
