Haha blasphemy. Man some people need to get over religion already (no flame war inteaded, if you start one, I shall ignore you for the greater good ;) (Or is it great or good? I'm pretty sure its greater, I dunno I never really found out))

OTOTOTOT: Sounds like a fun drink.
I agree most people take it a bit too far, but I don't see anything wrong with having religion (if that's what you meant by get over it)

I know you said you'll ignore any flame coming your way, but how about a discussion? Supposing that is your stance against religion.
Sure I'm open for discussion =) So, I have no problem with people believing in religion, I just wish they would keep it to themselves. Doesn't mean I don't like religion (matter of fact I love the ones such as Nordic and Greek mythology), I just don't believe.
Damn, seem to have the same stance more or less. I'll try and spin this whatever way I can anyway.

To be frank, I'd imagine alot of people would find it hard to know where to draw the line between living their lives through religion and not imposing it on others. You and I will both (well I don't know you, but its an assumption I assume is right) stand up for what we believe in, why shouldn't a religious man be able to do the same? Though I suppose by keeping it to themselves you mean to avoid preaching.

I don't know how accurate this is, not being Christian and noticing a very varying approach to religion in many of them, but a friend of mine who is Christian once told me that I'm lucky because I don't have to convert people to get into heaven or something along those lines. This guy's actually very intelligent and... not really religious (though I find it very hard to draw a line with Christians between religious, which can just mean anything between passively saying you are Christian and preaching till your seat in heaven is reserved) so assuming I was to take his perspective on his religion, he doesn't have much choice but to try if he truly believes. So by expecting them to keep it to themselves, you would be condemning them to hell on their terms.

To give a relevant example (one which can easily be dismantled by identifying one of the hands at play): Jews have often been prosecuted throughout history, the main reason being not only their relative insignificance (generally) in numbers, but also their isolation. Jews don't really believe in conversion, its possible, of course. But the process is long and the religion strict unlike Christianity where its pretty much a say-so basis (once again, speaking from my understanding). Because of their lack of association with others they've created this snobby and greedy image of themselves, even today most people don't understand what a Jew is (or rather, can be). Christians on the other hand have preached the world and back, they have so many followers that even in western countries, where we consider rational and logical thinking to be a given, Christianity is embedded into the very Law people abide, many social conventions and taboo's infact are based on Christianity, so why is it that you'd want to say no more?

(sorry for such a lengthy and miss-structured argument, I actually share your view more or less on religion and am actually arguing the opposite thing against someone on another thread.)
Hehe intresting. That is probably the most amount of text I've ever at once (excluding books of course). I'm just not smart enough to respond to such a "lengthy text". Sorry =) But I understand it at least so thats a start. (At least I think I understand it)

Yeah I guess it would be hard for them to draw the line, especially considering that it's pretty much evolved just like us humans. ;)

I dunno, I guess I just feel sorry for the people who can do nothing but 'preach' all their life. The things they miss out on, I tell ya, it gets me pretty angry.

Haha here I was thinking the exact opposite. I can't seem to find trench coats anywhere hear in Australia. And our paintball and laser tag is shit in comparison. (Your not alloud to run in the ones I've been to (laser tag I'm talking about). How are you supposed to win if you drone around like robots? Or no crouching for that matter. Lame.

That's a pretty interesting argument (though a little off topic). I understand why a lot of Christians (and many other religions) are big on converting, after all in their mind they're saving people's souls from hell and what have you. And the problem arises when trying to seperate religion from how they live with others, and as elected officials with strong religious beliefs, well obviously there's going to be a lot of conflict expecting them to be fair to all other religions, and mostly it just doesn't work. In many countries homosexuality is still punishable by death, as is sex outside of marriage (more often than not for women) and other non-sensical victimless crimes.

So someone who wants to convert someone isn't all that bad, if they have good intentions. Sure it's annoying as hell, but in their mind they're doing right, you can't fault them for that. It's when it comes to governing that religious influence can really become a problem, well intentioned or not, at the end of the day, extremist muslim states are no better than any other fascist regime. Not that Muslim states are the worst religious states we've seen, but they're certainly the worst right now.

Germans are cool

the only downside is that its light.

words like light, diet, or non-alchoholic has NOTHING to do with beer in my world.. ;P
Aye, too true. Gimme a dark ale with a high percentage, and I'm all set!
I guess you want some Tactical Nuclear Penguin [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/8380412.stm] then?
OT: I'm not particularly surprised that this has happened, and it's a clever idea by the makers to market it to a wider demographic, though it will probably be quite hard to find, simply because a lot of shops won't want to sell it due to complaints they'd probably get from customers.

Eh I am still kind of saddened that here we have a brand of energy drink called "Big Cock" yes it has a outline of a rooster on the front but the commercials leave little doubt that they think they were being oh sooo witty in getting away with such a word.
This makes the existence of another energy drink by the name of 'Pussy' all the more hilarious.

Also +1 to the UN for swatting down the complaints with sheer logic

For bonus points, o'course, there's a town in Norway called "Hell". So it seems some people actually go to Hell for their holidays.

Who says it's a one-way trip?

Religious discussion. _checks title_
Why?

OT: Sounds cool, but if they start being all witty and show-offy about it, then it won't be as good.

Lengthy doesn't always mean smart but thanks, I guess. =]

Being an atheist (or somewhere along the lines of agnostic I suppose) I can't actually condemn them for choosing to live life that way. Its a way of giving meaning to what in perspective can be either a very long, or very short existence. When culture and religion begin to harm others, that's where I draw the line as the following person mentions.

Mhmm, that's a difficult scenario, but not to be attributed to religion so much as culture. Their religion still states, as far as I know, the basic rules. (No stealing, killing and I believe adultery. Those as far as I know are shared amongst all religions) However as far as telling them to kill people to be sent to heaven, its quite similar to the pope and other religious leaders' pardoning or even glorifying the act of murder for the sake of their own faction. But can we blame a movement whose basest of goals is to "do right" by its fellow man because its leaders have somehow corrupted and twisted those set of rules? All its really guilty of is being a unifying force, much the same way nationality is, and wars have sprung up from them too.
