Invader Zim and The Pinky and the Brain were awesome. Better than every animated cartoon ever and are only on at 11:00pm where I live.
But like every seven year old, I loved the Power Rangers. Now, I just want it to die in a fire.

Stop saying Power Rangers. Stop it right now. You're making me feel old for knowing that Power Rangers was a horrible rip-off of Voltron. And I'm not old yet.

...I'm not.

I used to think it was a rip-off of Voltron too. Later I learned (and I don't know how I learned this) that it was a rip-off of Japanese live-action television. Most of the action sequences were spliced in from a Japanese superhero series. Did they keep doing that or did they use all that money they were making to create their own monster fights? Maybe I shouldn't complain, I used to watch an Australian-Japanese co-production of UltraMan.

And Gargoyles kicked ass BEFORE it got moved to a Saturday morning slot following Disney's merger with ABC (or was that a buyout, I don't remember). When it moved from weekday afternoons to Saturday mornings I stopped paying attention.

I just got through downloading season one and two of "The Real Ghostbusters"
Classic show its still great.

"The Mario Brothers" along with that nintendo power show with the nintendo kid(forget name).

The X-man and spider man shows were amazing along with "The Tick".

I remember watching a few nick shows that were classic in my mind, "Are you afraid of the dark", "pete and pete", "Adventures of the Hidden temple", "you cant say that on t.v.".

I miss those Nick shows so much. The Adventures of Pete and Pete was good, and somehow managed to continue to be good even after it became a full half hour show. And there was one episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark I'll never forget. It was called, "The Tale of the Dark Music" and for some reason it really, really stuck with me.

(and on the subject of the ghostbusters, the episodes with the bogeyman *terrified* me as a kid)

You don't mean Captain N the Game Master, do you?

... Ah, crap. Can't believe I forgot Dangermouse.

Could be worse. They could be watching The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. Look it up. It's not a cartoon, but it's bad.

Transformers was my favorite show when I was really young, Grimlock = greatest autobot by the way. The Real Ghostbusters was a classic too, remember getting the toys as a kid and dressing up as one for Halloween one year too. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was great too, Leo was my favorite of all four and that was another Halloween costume one year too ha ha. Then I remember some of the greats like the Tick, Batman, Captain Planet,..and while I'm not proud to admit it I was a fan of the Power Rangers too(first series though since the rest stunk)

Its a shame too cause I'll sit down and watch this cartoons with my little cousin every now and then and I have no clue what the hell is going on, but then again I can only assume our parents were the same way with what we watched. Makes me feel old too ha ha(if you can consider 21 old)

God, we were idiots getting up this early on weekends...

But then again, there was the Tick, and the original animated Batman Series, Johnny Bravo, or better, the Adam West Live Action Batman Series. It taught me an appreciation for cheesy trash even at this early age.
Johnny Bravo was/is awesome, i have the dvds now, did you know that seth macfarlane (family guy) worked on it, not suprising looking back but its a cool fact. Please tell me im not the only one that didnt know this.

Zoids was epic win, Darkwing Duck and Johnny Bravo were just plain weird. And I keep wondering about the whole Guatemalan prostitution thing Waterman said with Darkwing Duck. It would be pretty cool if that was true.

I think what was cool about Saturday morning cartoons is that they were special. The good cartoons only came on at that time. Now we're spoiled. You 3 or 4 cable networks dedicated to cartoons and youth shows. You got Fox with Simpson and family guy which consistantly have 'new' content. You have the sci fi network which occasionally spits out anime. And then you have the internet which can get you a bittorrent of every freaking cartoon ever thought about.

All this stuff makes Don Coyote look dull. And what was that weird almost anime-like show that took place on an ocean world collecting some kind of jewels... Hmm...

Haha Nah bro, best show ever was the show that spawned Pinky and The Brain, Animaniacs.
I remember when they "translated" Hamlet's famous soliloquy (to be or not to be and all that malarkey) into modern english. They brought Shakespeare to kids, in a way kids could undersand. Fucking Epic.
Oh man the good old days when cartoons were smart, and encouraged you to be too.

Damnit! Ninja'd...

Well on topic: Jonhny Bravo, DragonBall Z, Spongebob, Pinky and the Brain, Dexter's Labratory, Invader Zim, Cow and Chicken (one of the weirdest shows since Red and stimpy) and that's about all I can remember at this point.

The greatest shows that I watched when I was younger: (Shows that I would go back and watch today)

Johnny Bravo
Invader Zim
All That (The original one, not the stupid one that came out more recently)
Duck Dodgers

This forum has reminded me that Johnny Bravo is one of the greatest shows of all time. I still watch it with my friends, thanks to my DVR. Now we walk around quoting him as often as possible. Our favorite moment was when (I have subtitles on me TV), he bursts outside, knocks the door down with one hand, and says (this is what the subtitles read) "H'yauh!"

I'd make hideous pacts with the unseen forces to have had today's cartoons on when I was growing up. Stuff like Avatar or Justice League are miles ahead of everything that was on when I was little.
Problem is, when you were young you wouldn't have appreciated how awesome Justice League was. It works both ways.

The only thing I remember wanting to watch early in the mornings was Agro's Cartoon Connection (Aussie show). Then it stopped running, I was upset to say the least. Good old Scooby Doo, The Jetsons, The Flinstones etc etc.
