512! I have an SD card for my cell phone the size of a housefly (literally) with more space then that! And it's for music!
Dude, it's a Wii, not a computer. Read the spec sheet they packed in the box with it, you get 512MB of internal storage. And, let's not forget that some of that is off limits to you being used by things like the console's OS and such. At least they had the foresight to allow you to use external memory to expand the console's space, it's just a pity you can't launch VC titles off an SD card, but I have a feeling that'll be patched into the OS in the future.
And, really, it's not like there's a lot space needed at the moment. Most VC games are downright tiny, you can fit an entire NES fullset of ROMs into 72MB with compression(trust me on that), uncompressed it's around 335MB, and that's thousands of games. You gotta remember, even the biggest SNES games, the big 48 mega-bit deals only actually held around 3 to 4 MB of data.
Granted, the need for space is ever increasing, and with Wii Ware that demand is only going to get bigger. But, SD cards are dirt cheap, and like I said, I have a feeling the ability to launch VC/WW from external memory will get patched in with a firmware upgrade at some point in the future. Possibly as early as the end of this year or this coming spring.
