I dunno lol. Humans are complex creatures. It's incredibly naive and disingenuous to assume we'll ever all become hippies and just love eachother, but likewise it's too depressing and numbing to think all we're capable of is hate and self-destruction.

No, humans aren't complex creatures. You can always assume that if you put three humans in a group one of them will try to boss around the other two.

Complex would be ending wars an live in peace. But humans aren't capable of that, simply because they are too simple minded creatures, ripe for extermination...

Ok you are using mercenaries here... what then happens when the mercenary groups hold all the governmental power, resources and population of whole continents?
Do you really trust them not to then make themselves in the the next, now super-sized, corrupt government?
Then what do you do when they have more military might and resources then you do?

Mercenaries are already a force onto themselves, the idea of trusting them to take over a whole continent or two worth of resources and then NOT use that wealth to spread even further seems quite... flawed.

That isn't even facing the technical and tactical difficulties that will come with trying to take over the countries in question. It is a simple 'ok, lets say we succeed, what then?' question and the obvious outcomes are NOT good for anyone.

Seriously though, who'd want a bunch of yank mercs running in to their country and telling them how things were supposed to be run? Thanks, but I'd rather stick with whatever leaders I happen to have, regards of how fucked up they may be, instead of taking on the god-bothering "christian" ideals of america, thank you very much.

Why dont we just build a missle defense system, tighten up security, and send weapons to those countries until they fight it out. in say 20 years when the fire as died, who ever left can be assimilated by us.

Effort. Couple of tactical nuke strikes cost a few million dollars, problem goes away after a century or so of letting the radiation die down. Simple, cheap and effective.

As a matter of fact, China and Russia already have an ingenious foreign policy with regards to the Third World. They first offer weapons (lets say fighter planes) to one country, in exhcange for access to oil etc. Then they go to a rival country, offer them weapons (lets say AAA guns or anti-aircraft missiles). Play both sides until the resources and money dries up, rinse and repeat.

Yes this would require much more effort than say, dropping a couple bombs, this would be more effective on a wider scale. A missle defense system would be usefull for many years after we colonizized these countries. Tighter security is always a good idea. And unlike a nuclear strike, there would still be many people actualy left, who would be allied with us(as we fueled there rise to power) who we could implement as labour.

Well, thats simply the social order we all have instinctively rising up. But there is a lot more to the human psyche than simply domination or submission.

I don't think we'll ever live in peace, it's just not in our natures. It would actually be too simple for us to simply be at peace. We only need to look at the rest of life to see that violence and conflict are just as ubiquitous as they are amongst humans. The only way anyone can be at peace is alone; introduce even one other person and at some point there will be conflict.
