Save/Load capability in real life: If you could do anything what would you do?

You could theoretically live forever but one benefit of doing that is lost. If I were to live forever using save load I would never get to see how technology advances 100 or so years from now unless I find a way to live that long and quick load. I would just be able to live in any era from now until death (assuming good saves).

1. Guh. Live 50 years, memorise a fantastical invention which advances science.

2. Load, and "invent", pushing science forward 50 years.

3. Rinse and repeat, until several thousand years of human scientific advancements occur within a decade and I hold the patents to ALL of them.

4. Rule the galaxy.

Wouldn't it be funny if you could only save once, and you accidently saved just as you walked into the road infront of a bus while talking on your mobile?

Anyway goofing off wouldn't be time consuming anymore depending on what I'm doing. I can save watch TV then load, and then I'd have watched TV without wasting any time.

And I have a question for everyone here. What if loading took 30 minutes to complete? During those 30 minutes you remain in limbo watching the status bar without aging. Would that effect some of your plans?

It'd effect some of the less important ones, but the really important ones wouldn't change.

I plan to save, kill everyone who uses 2 parking spaces for their car (damn side-ways parking bastards) or mess up their car, load if I get caught. Yes, I'm gonna keep them dead if possible.

Save every 6 hours incase something unexpected happense.

Get chicks, or atleast never get embarassed. I'd save, be willing to try to pick them up, I'd be able to go back in time if I get rejected to either try in a different way or not try.

Save, meet that kid on the internet who lives in Illinois who has way too many similarities with me (no, there's no way he could've found those things out about me beforehand. We think we're clones or something) and his GF (lucky bastard). Than make another save and fight him (we enjoy fighting). Load to second save and see what'd happen if I tried to steal his GF with my plans that I thought up while we were chatting. Re-load for every plan. Reload again to hand out with them some. Than when I get bored or caught for running away reload to that first save. I'll use that second one again if I think ofanything else.

Save, enter girl's locker room, see reaction, load.

Save, try to get to north korea, save if successful, load if unsuccesful. If successful try to kill kim jong. Save if successful load if not. I'll load to the first save if I think the attempts are useless. load to the second if I thought me getting caught could've been successful. Try to get back to jersey, save if........you get the gist.

Get online game, start playing, save every 15 seconds. That way with use of loads I could beat everyone because I'll know exactly what they're gonna do.

Save before any game purchase, load before said purchase if I don't like the gamee. They don't deserve to get a sale just for making me interested via boxart/the back of teh box.

As many as you can make, and you magically never have any trouble finding the save file you wish to load.

Are they instantaneous (to save and load)...

Yup, no motion or concentration required.

...and do they restore everything or just somethings?

Restores absolutely everything back to it's original state, even your body, clothes, and position, EXCEPT you retain all knowledge

Do you get to keep knowledge that you learn AFTER the save, if you load at that save? [ie possessions go missing, etc, etc].

Do they kick in automatically if you die, is the ability to save and load avaliable even after you die?

The ability to load is available after death, but not the ability so save. It doesn't kick in automatically, you're given the option to load any file you wish if you wish to load a file, or IF YOU WISH you may die. It's your choice.

Of course all this would require you having the patience and the will to start over many years into the past.

All the people you've built relationships/friendships with will not know you when you load if met them after saving.

The only thing I can think of is ask your friends to think of a sentence, save. Then have them say it. Then load and say the exact same sentence before they say it. Repeat and explain ad naseum.

Although occam's razor would prefer 'mind reader' over save/load in that case. Can't think of anything definite.

Now that I think about it you could use that for all sorts of neat tricks.

You could predict unpredictable events and things you couldn't possibly have setup, like a news story a few days ahead of time or how a crowd of people will all react. Theoretically you could have set up everything to get your friend to believe you have save/load capability but it's so virtually impossible that it'd probably be easier for him/her to believe

And the tricks are what makes the power AWESOME

I feel like all the answers are mostly the same. It's a great idea simply because of all that you could do, but we're all motivated by the same things it appears, so it makes for a dull thread.

Hmm I'd save then ask a particular girl I know why she keeps saying she wants to be single and yet seems to constantly go out with a new guy within a week or two of breaking off a relationship if thats true. Then she would slap me and I would reload.

I'd also have a save the night before I get totally smashed so that if I got bored I'd save at that point. Then I'd load, get smashed then load the save I made before loading. I'd always have a save file of being 21 so that when I'm old I'd go back and enjoy the glory days. Plus I'd save before seeing the results of a horserace. Quick load back after seeing who wins and bet all I got on one race (with good odds). Then do it every week.

Finally I'd quick save, jump out a plane then before I hit the ground quick load. I'd do the same but off a building. Just to see what the rush is like.
