Last night as I played my old copy of Pokemon Sapphire, the unthinkable happened. The internal save battery died, taking with it five years worth of play time. In order to turn this into a discussion I ask you this: Have any of your saved games become corrupt, leaving you wondering why this had to happen to you?

Hoping that this post is long enough to satisfy you all,

My Morrowind save died after I had completed the expansions. I was gutted. Then I started again a week later.

I once had a PS2 memory card lost in the mail (long story). If I had to guess, I'd say there was at least 1200 hours of game time on that thing, including 200 hours of Final Fantasy X and 350 hours of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

I didn't touch a video game for about three months after that incident. I was, to say the least, crushed.

Same thing happened to me. I had just finished the Bloodmoon main quest after the other two ones (with plenty of sidequests, mind you) and then woke up to a corrupt game file. I had already played that game to death so I just exploited the permanent stats glitch and messed around.(Whizzing around and breaking through the inside of a building is fun.)

My save file for the first GoW vanished, I got to the 4th campaign. Then I probably went; "fuck this", and I haven't touched the game since.

I lost my save data on Supreme Commander. :(

I was just about to get the 100 ACU kills and completing all campaigns all difficulties achievements. I have the achievements for completing each campaign on hard, but not "completing all on hard".

I've had at least two GameCube memory cards corrupt on me. Made me lose all of Chao data for SA2:B and loads of other stuff.

That happened to me once, still was a great game.

I lost my Dead Rising File at .5 days left.

I've lost memory cards.

lots of them.

oh, and in "wtf" lost saves moments, I lost a save for Gauntlet Dark Legacy that had 3 level 99 characters on it, a few 50s, and all the bonus classes unlocked.

I was a little miffed.

Same thing happened to me on my original Red version. I was, needless to say, less than pleased.

Lost my FFVIII save having gotten pretty much everything and was just about to fight Ultimesia (I had yet to fight her so had not completed to game yet) I was not happy. However it worked for the better because with my stats I probably would have annihilated her.

I did a quick run through the game again (which in hind sight isn't quick...) and actually had a challenging final boss fight.

I had a house sitter who deleted all my Oblivion save data. I'm still getting over it *sniff*.

I don't know if that counts.

I randomly had my white GC memory card go completely blank once out of nowhere... but I think my cousin had something to do with it. I had like 50 different games saved to it and when that happened I sold half of them.

My Dragon Quest Monsters save file went ahead and killed itself. I had almost all of the ??? class monsters (a real ***** to get) and had beaten the game and unlocked every gate like 12 times over. Regardless to say when it vanished I was mentally crushed. However I started it again a week later, got about 90 percent to my previous save, and then lost the game...

Of course it counts! Those house sitters are positively evil, getting paid to live in your house for a week while mucking up your things. That happened to me once, only it involved not a house sitter, but a favorite pet cat.

Similar to yours: Pokemon Gold. It didn't just erase one save though, I couldn't save on that game again at all.

None of my saves have ever become corrupted, unless you count a couple of amateur adventure games where I downloaded patches that weren't compatible with old savegames.
