Hi there, everyone!

This is my first thread so go easy on me!

I've just seen the Saw 3D Trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg0go2b3ekY

What's everyone's thoughts about this new and final installment to the ever popular Saw series.

In fact, what are peoples thoughts in general about the Saw series. Because this is the last one to be made I know there will be a lot of people happy, sad or just couldn't care less really! :)

What are your thoughts?

If they don't stop soon it's going to be like a movie version of the Final Fantasy franchise.

I caught 2-3, and thought they were alright, I just never got around to seeing the others. For me, a horror film needs to take me out of my comfort zone to be really good, and Saw, unfortunately, did not for me.

That's not what I wanted to see from Comic Con. I wanted that trailer for the new Yu-Gi-Oh Movie to give to BlueInkAlchemist. Then later watch it.

Calumon: IN 3D!

Jack: Yeah, and I will see this. Just to see how well they finally finish it.

I pretty much lost interest in the series when I was watching Saw IV, the first one is still my favorite, and the series went downhill from there.

While the concept of the films gives plenty of opportunities to squeeze out another decent installment, I think -considering where they took the story- they should have pulled the plug 4 films sooner.

On a side note, welcome to the escapist!
Do enjoy your stay, I hear the basement is a place to avoid.

Personally I've always really enjoyed them, there seems to be a bit more thought involved in them than the horrible Hostel movies, which it's usually lumped in with as 'torture porn' for reactionary journalists.

If this is the final one, and they manage to really tie up all the loose ends in one movie, I'll be very impressed. I'll be pissed, but to be honest, I'll expect it, however, if it ends on a cliffhanger never to be resolved.

As someone who's consistently bashed the idea of home 3D and 3D in games, I'm pleased to see this will be in 3D, as I felt it really added something to Final Destination 4.

Its just what happened to Nightmare On Elm street. An original idea that producers can't let go of. It hasn't been good since the second, and even then they were only mediocre, a good idea not executed well.

a friend of mine worked as an extra on it and from what little he saw of it (pun intended) it sounds pretty mundane. A movie set in a city which is NOT Toronto yet clearly shot in Toronto that will end up being nothing more than typical core-porn tripe. I'm not a fan of the franchise, if you haven't noticed.

The first Saw was brilliant it had a great plot twist, a very orginal premist (at the time) and a gripping plot that made the film worth watching. The second one builded on the formula of the first one but changed it so it didn't feel like a needless sequel and it perfectly complemented the first film and gave alot of backstory to Jigsaw and to his motives. The third one is when the series spiralled down by this time the plot took a huge backseat from the previous two and the series since then has just been renowned for its Unnessiary torture killings with little to no plot or reason behind it at all.

I've always liked the gruesomeness of it all, but its gone on too long. I will see this one though, the 3D as with most movies it just a gimmick really. At least as far as I think. The first 2 were best and it has gone downhill slightly more and more since then.

I read there was going to be atleast 8 films.

On topic. much like the last 3 or 4 films I am not going to watch the trailers or read up on them.

I love the saw films 'cos they have a story. Most horror films stories are really bad or bare bones.

The two big horror films, Freddy and Jason. One was a peado and the other was ... urm ... pissed off? They say he only killed wrong doers but after killing one wrong doer he pretty much killed who he saw.

Hills have eyes, mutants getting revenge on normal people for turning them into mutants.

Dracula, wanted a drink.

Wolfman, food?

The ring, a girl with so much hate kills people 'cos she hates.

Every zombie film .... why do zombies kill humans?

Childs play, he just liked killing.

Final destination, death does his job.

Hannibal, wanted food .. I think.

Hostel, people pay to kill.

Saw, person testing the human instinct to live. (thats the best sounding one so far)

It started out as having very little story, like Jason and Freddy but Jason and Freddy after 13/14 outtings is still the same story, one wants revenage for being burned for being a peado and the other kills for teh lolz. Saw has twists and turns in it ... the rabbit hole runs a little deeper.

It also makes you think, could I cut off my own arm to save myself? Who would I choose to die? What would I do in that situation?

Wow, thank you all so much for replying! :) and thank you Crops!

I do think that it does go Saw 1: Wow... Saw 2: Even better Saw 3: Ewww! Saw 4: Oh okay... Saw 5: I'll cut my own arm off for something better to do and Saw 6: Wow... This is better than the first one!

I do think that, although I think we can all agree that they have gotten progressively worse, I do think that Saw 6 was the best sequel. I think 6's plot twists and turns got me as it was the first Saw sequel that I didn't read up on (excluding 2).

I think that I will watch it in 2D first to get the story and the plot sorted as I find that any 3D movie (not including Toy Story 3!) takes away from the plot and I find that you forget that you are watching 3D anyway so there's no point in spending an extra £5. :)

Also does anyone agree that all 3D movies, due to the glasses darken the film? This could be a MAJOR problem in the Saw world due to the dark nature of the filming :p
