EA published Mirror's Edge AND is working on a sequal prequal thingie that is loosely relevant and will probably have similar gameplay. For that, EA, you get this post.

Microsoft is about to save me at least $565.

The Halo Franchise has awesome vehicle sections (I don't dislike The Halo Franchise by the way, I'm just disappointed)

Final Fantasy XIII is drop-dead gorgeous. If FF13 was a person it would be...uh, I'm drawing a blank but just think of somebody who is beautiful or handsome but then absolutely horrible in every other aspect.

Borderlands is an extremely impressive MMO prototype.

Microsoft. They have good customer service. That was hard.
You never had to call customer service about your windows live account?

That was a terrible waste of time. You got connected to Xbox live and had to spend 10 minutes trying to get them to understand that the contact info for GFWL lead to them and they had no idea of how to help you. I'll agree that the Xbox support is OK tough.

Consoles, they somehow have wide appeal.
You're not really saying a nice thing about it here, you're stating a fact and also that you can't understand why. So this is neutral at best while hinting at a negative. Try again.

OT: Bioshock. Now I didn't like that game, I have given it several tries and I really fought hard on my last try. I had to edit ini files, I tried installing new drivers, I tried running compatibility mode and my reward for making a try was more errors. However that game had a brilliant atmosphere, I love the concept of an underwater city as I am very fascinated by marine biology. It looks beautiful and I can't ever get past that. I also love the concept of the bioengineering. The audio in general is quite awesome too, both the sound effects, the music and the voice acting all engages me.

Every time I try to evaluate this game I can't really think of anything negative to say except the fact that I didn't like it.

xbox live has done quite a bit to improve games popularity. If only this didn't mean most games that come out no longer have the tight single player experience I most enjoy.

EA games.
They threw Riticello out- and it is worthwhile to note that the Origin 'returning electronically purchased games' policy was instituted a short while after that todding suit took to the streets. Coincidence?

Like bloody hell it is! For the past week and a half my Xbox live hasn't worked and I've been sent tons of useless advice and had to wait for 3 days for an email that never came, and now I've got to wait until Wednesday to see if I get an email and if not to call them up. I was also told that there's a problem with payment, and every time I try to fix it saying the service is down and sending my account into connection limbo, where I am neither connected or disconnected, causing me to have to reset my Xbox before I can play anything.

Well the 2008 Prince of Persia remake was really pretty.
And Mark Hamill's performance Darksiders was entertaining.

Never have I wanted a refund as much as I did after completing those two games. Such disappointments to me.

Dear Esther by TheChineseRoom

The effect of water running over your camera when you walked under a waterfall was pretty cool. Everything else was dumpster trash. 0/10

Halo: Reach's ending was actually a good mix of gameplay and story, and it handled it's character extremely well in the situation (Spartan corpses are scattered throughout the battlefield, showing how you are truly alone and hopeless, your helmet begins cracking as you take damage etc). I was also one of the 6 Halo fans who knew and accepted that Noble Six was dead so the ending was extremely appeasing. A good farewell from Bungie.

Just a shame that the rest of the game was boring.

EA's releasing Mirror's Edge 2 and Star Wars Battlefront. Only time will tell if they're going to be butchered, but the fact that EA is even getting them released means that they're actually trying to look like a good game publisher again.

Especially with the latter game. I freaked out when Disney shut down Lucasarts and gave EA licensing for their games, but those two game announcements immediately had me cautiously optimistic. That game was on its way to vaporware oblivion until EA picked it up. There can't be a better developer to make a Star Wars Battlefield-style FPS than the publisher of Battlefield itself, and as heretical as it sounds, I think EA would do a better job on the game than Lucasart around the time of its demise.

But again, cautiously optimistic.

Activison and Infinity ward (basically, Call of Duty): I disagree with a lot of their marketing, their idea of what a 'game' even is, and I dislike they heralded the coming of the FPS season/year(s). But I have to admit, they are very good at what they actually do: multiplayer still feels solid, SOME of their marketing is kinda clever, and at least they give Battlefield a reason to try and better itself (and vice versa).

Capcom: They made a game once. I kinda liked it.

Konami: They threw money at a project they didn't believe in, filled it with their worst employees, and then left them alone. So in other words thank you for Silent Hill.

EA:...

Microsoft: Master Chief is wearing a motocross helmet for some reason, but it's kind of nifty looking I guess.

Mojang AB.

Minecraft has pretty much transcended modern-day notions of video game genres, and gone on to create a "true" sandbox where the only limits to the game are your imagination. I also read somewhere that Minecraft is being used in schools, so it is at least getting some productive uses academically as well.

You did good on that front, Mojang. You did good.

Square Enix has published some really good PC ports over the past year or so. (Tomb Raider, WatchDogs, Hitman Absolution)

Edit: Sleeping Dogs, not Watch Dogs. The name threw me off.
