Since you are on this site, you are probably aware of the storm of criticism surrounding Microsoft's latest console, the Xbox One. It requires an internet connection, you are no longer allowed to own games that you buy, the Kinect is always watching you and writing down your dirty little secrets to send to the corporate overlords, it won't be backwards compatible, and so on.

Basically, everybody hates it. Everyone loves to hate it.

I am no exception. As soon as I found out about all of this crap, I jumped on board the hate train with all of my friends.

What I'm curious about is if there is anything positive to say at all about this gaming platform that, in some eyes, is the spawn of satan. Can we prove that, in fact, even the most soot-clogged, acid-rain-filled cloud has a silver lining?

For example, even if the service will no doubt shut down after another console comes out, I am at least curious about Microsoft's planned feature to allow you to access your games and data on any Xbox One console. Will you have more than 500 mb? Who knows! At least it has potential.

Any other possible positives?

Sorry to point it out but there is a very similar thread to this here.

And as I said in that thread; The controller, I kinda liked the idea of the feedback triggers and I've always preferred the 360 controller. Though I heard it still requires batteries rather than coming with a rechargeable battery pack and I know with the other Xbox One problems that's nothing but still.

All the features of the console would have been absolutely fantastic, and revolutionary. If it happened 5 years ago...

It's saved me some money so I appreciate that from Microsoft.

It looks like it has a pretty nice controller. I've always thought the Xbox 360 controller was the best controller of this generation, if not of all time, and it seems that they've improved it. I'll probably get one for my PC when it comes out.

Never touching the actual console with a 10 foot pole though.

We haven't seen any games for it yet, so there's still hope it might've not f'ed those up. Also, Concurrent gaming within your family of the same game library is actually a really good idea, assuming they implement it right.

And if nothing else, you can at least admit that its interesting. Not in a good way, but still.

Pretty much this as well. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get one but since their um... lovely showing of it I know to spend that money on another console. So thanks Microsoft! :D

Edit: I think it would make for a good doorstop as well, looks heavy enough to get the job done.

It might shift some focus towards the PC, which is my gaming platform of choice.

Once bitten and twice shy . It will teach consumers to be more informed before buying something.

That's easy: It's the console that stands out the most. It's not a standard black box like the WiiU and the PS4. It's a patchwork of dark gray and black, and for that, I applaud it. I still wish it came in colors (As well as, not being horrendous to consumers), but still.
