Well, Im from the US, but since I feel thats going to be said a lot and get a lot of hate, I'll say something more centralized around Pennsylvania:
The Borough of Kane is known as the Black Cherry Capital of the World.
Nazareth is the home of Martin guitars. Finger picking good since 1833.
Little League Baseball's first World Series was held in 1946 in Williamsport.
Actor Jimmy Stewart was born and raised in the town of Indiana. Each year at Christmas the downtown area is decorated in the theme of the film "It's a Wonderful Life".
"Doctor, if you don't give me something to help me breathe, I'm going to stop!" came the urgent cry of 16-year old Frederick Gable of Loganville. Vowing not to lose another patient to pneumonia, Dr. George Holtzapple successfully created the first application of oxygen, thus saving his patient's life and winning international fame through his discovery. The year was 1885
Bob Hoffman of York is hailed the world round as the Father of Weightlifting. Hoffman started York Barbell Corp. in 1932 and preached the gospel of physical fitness throughout his life as an U.S. Olympic coach, businessman and philanthropist.
In 1946 Philadelphia became home to the first computer.

And about Pittsburgh Itself:
First Heart, Liver, Kidney Transplant - December 3, 1989
The first simultaneous heart, liver and kidney transplant was done at Presbyterian-University Hospital.
The First Internet Emoticon - 1982
The Smiley :) was the first Internet emoticon, created by Carnegie Mellon University computer scientist Scott Fahlman.
First Robotics Institute - 1979
The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks.
First Retractable Dome - September 1961
Pittsburgh's Civic Arena boasts the world's first auditorium with a retractable roof.
First Polio Vaccine - March 26, 1953
The polio vaccine was developed by Dr. Jonas E. Salk, a 38-year-old University of Pittsburgh researcher and professor. (this one i know its abit contested, because there was another treatment before this, but this is the one most widely and largely known).
First Banana Split - 1904
Invented by Dr. David Strickler, a pharmacist, at Strickler's Drug Store in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
First Ferris Wheel - 1892/1893
Invented by Pittsburgh native and civil engineer, George Washington Gale Ferris (1859-1896), the first Ferris Wheel was in operation at the World's Fair in Chicago. It was over 264 feet high and was capable of carrying more than 2,000 passengers at a time.

Pittsburgh for a time (may still be) had the most bridges in the world excluding solo piers at 446, beating even Venice. I know Amsterdam has the most if you include any kind of bridge, but I think when you look at certain types of bridges that people basically say, yeah thats a bridge, Pittsburgh is still first.

and we actually had the first commercial station in the world in 1920, KDKA radio. <url=http://www.wpi.edu/about/history/radio.html>source

If Julia Gillard, Wayne Swan, Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott were all on a boat and the boat sank, who would be saved?

Australia.

That's funny because I actually wanted to post that tidbit instead. But then I researched it on the internet and found out it's only half true. And then I was like meh, not so impressive anymore.

Its either too hot or too cold most of the time. Like Australia.

Also, "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" can make even non-Australians cry.

Pointless Information: Traffic behavior is horrifyingly consistent in certain cities and and states. People ALWAYS speed like mad men in Atlanta and everyone in Tampa drives 5 miles under the speed limit.
I can attest to both of these. The unofficial speed limit on I-75 is 80, despite the sign specifying 55 or 65. Conversely, I have been stuck on a one lane road in Tampa where I allowed my car to move at idle speed, and occasionally had to hit my breaks to avoid hitting the old woman in front of me. I swear, I wanted to toss my car in park and walk up, knock on her window, and ask her to kindly pull off to the side of the road so the 20 of us stuck behind her could move.

Well, they vote based on the popular vote in a state, so while it potentially can negate your say, it doesn't really.

England: We're just sad because the rest of the UK (Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Mann and technically Cornwall) won't let us join their fancy 'Celtic' club. Some of us are a bit celtic too! A bit! Honest! We have Stonehenge!

EDIT: Ok, the Isle of Mann is in Britain but not the UK, and vice versa for Northern Ireland/Ulster. I had to say one or the other.
