It's time for some positivity regarding blizzards latest demonic horde annihilating simulator. So tell us something that you like about Diablo 3. Do you find its graphics uplifting or the simplification of some aspect of gameplay refreshing?

the cinematics are very pretty. The gameplay is fun.. except for the lag and the Loot drops balanced around their pissing AH. That is the extent of the nice things I can say about it

Didn't play it...I wouldn't mind since I did enjoy whichever Diablo was on the PS1 but I have not played it.

However, when they are able to (Hurray for cheap shots!), my co-workers absolutely LOVE the game. I'll probably pick it up once it drops in price since it seems to be one of those games that is much better with people.

So that's my nice thing: People I know in real life love the game

It's still fun to slash your way through hordes, of demons, the visuals are still dark and bleak and atmospheric, the music is still excellent, most of all it still feels like Diablo.

Off-set by a) the fact that the player has literally no control over how they level up, ie. the exact opposite of what an RPG should be, b) it's piss-easy and c) the stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid online-all-the-time thing...

I'd say do what I did and let your brother buy it so you can play it for free.

Classic trilogy syndrome. The first one is very good. The second one stands triumphantly atop the very pinnacle of excellence. The third one realises it has nowhere to go, does a little dance, stumbles and falls on its arse. I just hope the same thing doesn't happen with The Dark Knight Rises.

It's got better graphics than the leading competitor [http://www.dinofarmgames.com/blackswf.html] in games where you click a lot to get bigger numbers.

You know I usually have no issues with complimenting games I generally dislike.
But I cannot think of one thing in this case.

We can all learn something from its many missteps. Here is hoping developers in the future avoid all the pitfalls.
Unless they are Blizzard, they don't have to learn anything since they have more money than God.

Oh, well... Lets see now...
Put over 120 hours into the game and I still itch to play it. Do I enjoy the game? No, not at all, but since I still got a need to play they gotta be doing something right.
I guess.

I'll say three things:

1. It reminds me of Diablo 2.
Diablo 2 was, quite easily, the best ARPG ever made. For me personally, the Torchlight 2 Beta damn near stole that crown, but nothing will take Diablo 2's spot in my teenage years. Anything that reminds me of my countless hours leveling one of each class to 99, farming loot, trading items and PvPing with randoms and friends alike is a good thing. Even Diablo III.

2. It's a solid example of what not to do.
Basically, everything Diablo III did is wrong. Nothing it added, or subtracted, made for a better experience. Luckily, it's such a shining example that all other game developers have an easy example to use to make better games so we don't have to suffer this trash again.
"Let's put Always Online DRM in our game! And Auction Houses!"
"Fuck no - look what happened with Diablo 3!"
"Gee - you're right. Let's avoid that land mine!"

3. Torchlight 2.
Luckily, thanks to Diablo III being more closely related to World of Warcraft, I avoided Diablo III. And, in doing so, I discovered Torchlight 2.
I cannot under-state how much better Torchlight 2 is compared to Diablo III.
Without Diablo III basically spitting in the face of everything from fans, journalists, common sense, reason, logic, rudamentry game design understanding, etc., I'd have jumped on board for this entry, and missed Torchlight 2.

Very easy: Diablo 3 is a bloody fun game.

No it's not fun when you rush through all the levels only to knock at the highest difficulty and complain about how hard it is. No it's not fun when the servers are not working or you have a bad internet connection at home. No it's not fun if you can't get over the fact that it's a different game from Diablo 2 and nothing will change that. And you certainly won't have fun if you own a 3000$+ PC and are upset that not all games strive for the Crysis level of graphical fidelity.

But once you accept that, and just relax and take it in one step at a time, it's the most exhilarating monster-killing experience, and frankly the most fun I've had in years. There is a fleeting moment of excellence in the title, the attention to detail that's so overwhelming that it distinguishes it from other triple-A games. It's in the artistic choices for visual and sound design, it's in a way the monsters die and spells are animated and a lot of other things.

It doesn't have to have Bioware story or Skyrim's expansiveness, it's just pure, distilled fun-in-a-box.

Here are a few advices on how to enjoy the game:

- Lower your expectations. Nothing can live up to overblown expectations. Here are some facts: Diablo 3 is not a competitive game.
It will not melt your graphics card.
It will not invent a new genre.
It is not perfectly balanced (yet).
It will always require internet connection even for single-player.
Servers will have maintenance.

- Assure that you have a good internet connection. If you buy this game and your internet is choppy, then you've been warned plenty and your rage should be addressed only to thyself.
- Don't rush! Game balancing needs work and most importantly time. In a game like Diablo it's inevitable as you cannot test the myriad of build by internal testing (making a beta with all skills unlocked doesn't make any commercial sense either). Feedback from people who play higher difficulties and test the game's limits is invaluable. However no developer can make a balancing patch a week after a game release that would fix everything. See advice one.
- If it's too hard, relax and roll a new class, they play and feel very differently from each other. If it's too easy, why not go Hardcore?
