Say something nice about EA if you can

I like many hate EA. But I also, like many, am tired of the bitching The Escapist has seen lately. Now I am as guilty as everyone else, even today some stuff happened to really piss me off and I ended up posting in one of the why do you hate the world/humanity threds. But after carming down I got the idea for this.

Anyway is it possible to say something nice about EA? I cannot think of anything. If not EA then try Activision or whatever else you are guilty of bitching about a little too much.

No, Just no. I won't say anything nice about EA, because I have nothing nice to say about EA. And that will never change. Do I have anything nice to say about any game companies? Not really. They are all thieves. There are only a very small number of exceptions to that.

EA has an eye for talent, and many of the companies they have acquired still put out quality games. They are also willing to take chances on new or obscure IPs (Kingdoms of Amalur, Dead Space, Syndicate reboot, etc.) that not many other publishers will do.

I always find this sort of "try and say something nice about X" to be kind of silly and self-defeating, as you're essentially asking people to reach to scrape up anything nice to say.

That said, I like many of their games and they are a prevalent publisher for a reason.

That is the point of the thread. To make people see that as bad as something is there is at least one good thing about it. It will not work with everything but it is beter the the endless 'Why do you/I/we hate X' topics we have had recently.

They actually were a pretty cool company once. But that was in the 80's and early 90's, when they were still called "Electronic Arts" and not "EA." Unfortunately, the company has changed so much since the days of Trip Hawkins that it's no longer recognizable.

I enjoyed the sixth Harry Potter game. In fact I enjoyed the very very first one too. EA had a hand in those. But then that success is overshadowed by the pile of crap that was Harry Potter 4 and 7, parts 1 and 2. Damn those make me angry. They could have done so much with Harry Potter 4 and they chose that! And look at 7. Jesus christ. Harry Potter is not a damn shooter and they should not have made it that way. Also it is only four hours long. 4 hours! I think even less. Just damn.

Oops. I turned this into a rant. Anyhoo. Well done EA for creating some good Harry Potter games.

I don't necessarily like their business practices, but they've published the vast majority of my favourite games from the past ten years. So good on them for that.

This is literally their greatest contribution to the medium, and I don't think they were the first to do it.
