The "EA games - challenge everything!" thing they used to do was always fun to say when starting up a new game.

Also, the Sims was basically my childhood. And they brought back SSX.

There we go, that's probably the few compliments I can give. But they are good compliments.

But I'll repeat myself anyway.

Thank you for distributing Valves physical game copies.

The Sims is fun.
Mass Effect was awesome.
"E... A... Sports... It's in the game!" is one of the most catchy/memorable pub/dev credit ever.

They aren't Hitler or Stalin.
They give people like Jim Sterling plenty of material for good videos.

I like the sims, and i like many of the games EA publishes. They publish a lot of stuff, so maybe 60% is crap but there is a lot of good stuff as well.

EDIT:
I also find their catchphrase amusing "EA games. Challenge everything!"

I always find this sort of "try and say something nice about X" to be kind of silly and self-defeating, as you're essentially asking people to reach to scrape up anything nice to say.

That said, I like many of their games and they are a prevalent publisher for a reason.
That is the point of the thread. To make people see that as bad as something is there is at least one good thing about it. It will not work with everything but it is beter the the endless 'Why do you/I/we hate X' topics we have had recently.
If you have to browbeat it out of people, you've already defeated the purpose.

And it's not going to stem the hate. Sorry, but finding a diamond in a pile of shit doesn't mean it's not a pile of shit.

Thank you EA for existing. Because of you, young idealistic gamers have an entity to put all of their bile and hatred onto. Without you, all sorts of strawman arguments would not exist. Without you being around, you do not provide me with all sorts of entertainment.

They publish some really fucking good games.
For me Origin is faster than Steam (but more expensive than every other option).
As far as I can tell everything they publish gets a decent PC Port (this is my experience).

I don't hate EA at all really. I might shake my head sadly at their business practices, but there is nothing they have done to warrant actual hate.

I'm addicted to Dragon's Age: Origins, but haven't bought DA2 because of all the bad publicity concerning its quality and the accusations that EA forced BioWare to rush it out in a money grab.

I don't think that EA is composed of COMPLETE imbeciles and I am giving their recently released statements that they have confidence in BioWare despite DA2, ME3, and TOR's problems the benefit of the doubt.

I honestly do suspect that they are taking steps to permit BioWare to actually do DA3 its own way because they want to make a lot of money by avoiding killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

They are skilled enough to kill off every MMO they get involved with, without fail. That takes some serious skill.

you can prolly pick DA2 up for like a tenner now, which is about what it's worth. And the post release DLCs were pretty decent as susch things go.

Um, anyway, on topic...

... uh... like 3 years ago they anctually tried to not be evil overlords and gave new IPs a chance. Uh... some BiowEAre stuff is alright. Dead Space was fun (although admittedly I bought it 2nd hand for a tenner - i'd have been less charitable to it if it were a full price buy).

EA do have a lot of good points. It's just they then have 10 bad points for each of those good ones.

Well, I like the Mass Effect games which are published by them.

That's about it really. It's not that I hate them or anything, I know next to nothing about them.
