The 6 month anniversary of it's release seems to have sparked some renewed interest in ME3 so I thought I'd use this chance to start a thread I've been wanting to see for a while. Say something nice about Mass Effect 3. It seems like every Mass Effect 3 thread centers on the the exact same part of the game, and it's almost always negative; so I'm asking you all to say something that you actually liked about it. Come on, you know there were parts you liked. For me it just had to be seeing a Reaper get pounced and then dragged to hell by a Thresher Maw. HOOAH!!

Please no bringing up the the ending(s) unless you actually liked them. Anyone who does goes on my list....

...my list of people who are big meany-heads.

It was a terrible game and I liked nothing about it. Butt hurt. Butt hurt etc.

Seriously though, I loved every second of that game :D

It's not hard to say something nice about Mass Effect 3. It was a brilliant game. Loved the combat and story, the multiplayer was fun and the ending was alright. There you go. Nice things.

...I'll be your friend, Mass effect. It's okay. Shhh.

ALL THE THINGS!

I liked the story, the gameplay (sure it was reused ME2 gameplay but whatever), the closure of a lot of plot points, and yes even the ending. What I did NOT like was the pacing. It felt like I was being encouraged to rush, lest the invisible timer go off and my multiplayer grinding stop mattering. Despite that, I had fun and I was enthralled all the way to the ending. Which only sucks in hindsight if you ignore the entire history of game endings and expected a shooter or an EA game not to try cutting to credits 5 minutes or less after the final boss. Mass Effect 3 shot off its story load in-game, the last thing I wanted was for Shepard's farewell to be exposition. A montage works and is often used in film in the hero's last moments. Of course, I haven't seen the new ending yet.

I consider the mission on Tuchanka as the pinnacle of game design --> beautiful enviroment, art direction, story and pacing, characters, gameplay, music and closure of plot points.

Simply wonderful.

...98 per cent of it I like.

to this day ive gotten in probably 4-5 runthroughs of mass effect, but only have played the ending (choosing destroy) only once. On the other playthroughs I stop playing at the point where you face marauder shields. just cant face the ending. not again.

oh and the 98% includes the music. good music. just thought i'd mention it

Well, it has to be said how awesome the music was.

[small]Which was good, considering Jack Wall wasn't part of the team, unlike the previous games.[/small]
I really liked the soundtrack despite that fact as well. I still don't know why they didn't have Jack Wall come back for at least one or two tracks. He's the reason ME1 has my favorite ME soundtrack still.

It was a great sendoff to the series...

Manly tears were shed during some sections of the game.

The power upgrade trees were a good, natural expansion on Mass Effect 2's, and the weight/cooldown system is a really nice exploitable touch.

Eargh.

It's like I've stepped into a time machine set to about six months ago. There's threads asking for people's opinion on ME3's ending, there's threads about how it could have been improved, threads about how no really the rest of the game was great so shut up, and now we have the desperate fan threads trying to balance out the negativity.

It's like the great forum cycle. All this has happened before and will happen again.

The combat is by far the best in the series. Not jerky and generally shit like ME1's combat. Not over-reliant on cover-based shooting like ME2's, with a much wider range of more challenging enemy types to boot, and a wide selection of guns and upgrades that all feel unique, rather than getting a rifle that is just your current rifle +1 of everything like in ME1. Powers are all fun to use too.

The multiplayer is legitimately good, although it could really use some more game types beyond just adding a few more round types to the current horde mode. I also really like the feel it gives that it really is the whole Galaxy that's at war now, not just Shepard, and that everyone has to play their part in keeping the Reapers at bay if anyone is going to survive.

The progression and stats in my opinion found the perfect middle ground between the first two games. ME1 was bloated and tedious to the nth degree in that regard, whereas in ME2 it was so cut down it might as well have just not been there. ME3 found the sweet spot.

Moments in the story (if not quite the whole story arc in itself) that are simply sublime and perfectly executed. Necessary mentions go to Mordin, Thane, and Legion, but there are more as well.

I like how the vast majority of the characters we know and love each get their moment of glory, without the squad numbers becoming too large (that said, just one or two more wouldn't have gone amiss), as well as introducing us to new characters rather than just relying wholly on established connections. Also, I like Vega and Javik. YEAH, YOU HEARD ME!

Finally, post-Extended Cut I actually like the endings. The theme of the ending is clearer, I approve of it, and most importantly it now actually feels like an ending to a story, where your actions (whatever they were) made a radical difference to the world, with a nice goodbye scene to finish the whole thing off (I seriously broke down at the end of EDI's narration for the Synthesis ending and I'm not ashamed to admit it).

Other than that... Grrr bugs grrr auto-dialouge grrr animations grrr ret-cons grrr!

And yet you have posted in all of them. Not critising you bro as most of your posts have made my laugh my arse off, and god knows I agree with most of what you have said, but you could have just given this one a miss.

OT: Loved most of it. You can all guess which bit I did not like. What more can I say. The Mordin part of the game is probebly the most fun part for me. And the most sad.
