Perfect time to learn necromancy, I could start a zombie army with all of the dead investment bankers.

Ever see Jurassic Park III? I'd like to think I could be like that kid who lived in that truck for eight weeks. Either that, or I'd rather be in the middle of nowhere, next to a mountain river, where I'd already been farming and junk, living off of geothermal energy. Hopefully I'd be far and out-of-the-way enough that no one would even accidentally stumble across me, should they choose to migrate away from the crumbling, burning cities.

That being said, after some time in isolation, I'm sure I'd turn into a nutty hermit and bludgeon or shoot anyone who came within a kilometer, anyway :)

Side question: Why does everyone assume there'd be zombies?

With my band so that we can die as warriors of metal and go to Valhalla.

One benefit to being a warrior of metal is that you gain the ability to RELEASE THE KRAKEN!

I'd like to be one some hippie commune in the middle of nowhere. It'd be handy to live with people who know how to grow food.

This is a more serious comment, but without law and order, I think I'd like to be in a community of similar and like-minded people. I.E. I wouldn't want to be in Toronto because the clusterfuck of people from all over, all with different religions/morals, could be unpleasant without the strong arm of the law keeping things in line. How long before someone started killing Jews or Muslims or Christians? How long before Third-World conflicts start erupting in multi-cultural cities across the world? I'm sure Canadians remember the whole Tamil-Tiger thing in Toronto. It was Canadian citizens of Tamil descent supporting a terrorist organization by blocking-off major highways. That type of situation would be even more unpleasant if the world went to shit.

I suggest you watch the history channel's Life After People series and a new one they've recently started that deals with the aftermath of various apocalypse scenarios. They're both very intriguing and wake you up to the fact that when the current civilized infrastructure breaks down you will be up shit creek with no easy way out.

The name of the game is survival and what you're willing to do. Suffice it be said nice people won't survive the first few months.

Where would you want to be in the case that the world went to hell?

Big city where it will be easy to get the supplies you need? Or out on your own where you don't have to worry about anyone else? Be specific on where and why.

Personally I would want to be living in downtown Seattle, plenty of rain, port city, and with everything there it could possibly be a pretty stable place to live.
Where I live right now. It's farmland on all sides, and deep woods are not far off, so I'll always have a continuous supply of food. The only problem is that there's nothing to do, so I'd probably go nuts (watch out for me in York Region!))

In my secret base, laughing evilly as my plans finally came to fruition. Base defences on high and away we go!

If this happened a little earlier than my plans would have hoped for, probably on a rooftop with supplies, a sniper rifle and a crazed look on my face.
