Ok, I'm tired of googling this and finding pure crap. I'm not a 12 year old girl for God sakes and the Shining was NOT a horror movie!!!!

I want REAL fear, like the kind I can't shake for a while. I want a movie that wakes up some REAL fear. Like the kinda you get from playing Fatal Frame.

I guess I'm asking you people what a REAL scary movie is that I should watch.

NOTE: I loved the shining, great movie, I just wasn't really scared when I watched it, like at all.

LIST OF MOVIES I DIDN'T FIND SCARY (just to set the bar.):
The Shining
The Sixth Sense
Jaws
Alien
Quentine
28 Days Later (ok, so this kinda freaked me out at moments, but I think we can do better.)

TO CLOSE: basically, I haven't been REALLY scared since I played Fatal Frame, I've never had a nightmare either... can you guys cange that?

No one can help you. Not on purpose anyway. Different things scare different people. Someone could suggest a movie, you could watch it and be scared, but it was just a coincidence.

Try Paranormal Activity. It isn't as scary as they make it out to be, but it has a few creepy points.

The Grudge and The Ring. I'd pick up the Japanese versions, but the American ones are OK and the American The Ring freaked me out, a lot.

Arachnophobia. Now THAT is fucking disturbing.
I'm not scared of spiders... will it still be scary?
Try watching it on a laptop in a dark room with bugs crawling everywhere, and you'll definitely be scared. I had to watch it like that.

I don't find horror movies scary either. Try something like Jacob's Ladder, it's not scary but disturbing.

Watched it last night.... thought it was pretty good... I was kinda creeped out, I'm more into ghosts because you can't see them.

EDIT: this movie counts... YES I KNOW IT'S techincally A demon... same thing... lol

Try Rinne (aka Reincarnation) [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0456630/], a Japanese horror film that scared the living daylights out of me. It definitely goes beyond the usual "startle" horror we see in most horror films today. It does of great job of making you feel unsettled. If you're looking for scares, I highly recommend it.

It never got a theatrical release (due to "graphic content"), but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find some DVDs floating around on the web.

Transformers.
If you are not terrified of the shitty acting, total destruction of the characters, worthless story, pathetic attempts at humour and that generic piece of trash megan fox then you just do not possess a soul.
Saw it... and was scared that people actually PAID to see it... especially my friend who bought it.... that scared more more then anything, that I could KNOW someone who liked it enough to buy it.

So ya, that movie did make me lock my doors and keep my up at night for fear his stupidity might come in the night and take me away.
