Talking about mundane scares, here, by the way. Some are more reversible than others, too, I suppose. But here goes, my examples...

The often cited "sleep falling sensation".

The split-second between forgetting I put my keys in a different pocket than usual, and remembering it.

The waking up lazily in the morning with my cat staring right into my soul and trying to make me sacrifice my firstb...uh, I mean, give him breakfast.

Any kind of unexpected technical hiccup at work when I'm "in my element" (though that's more disruptive to my focus than actually scary my reaction is the same)

Noticing a cop car in the vicinity after I've just jaywalked.

So, escapists, what little everyday life things leave you almost needing new pants?

I sometimes have a small freak-out when typing or writing a word because it looks so horrendously weird that I thought I spelled it wrong.

This happened to me the other day with the word 'video.'

I went to bed early one night and was woken up a few hours later by a shadowy figure leaning towards me. It was only my boyfriend getting into bed but my brain decided it was a monster/murderer so I freaked out for a few seconds before realising what was going on. So scary.

Being at the doctor's office, it seems like whenever I go get a check up, they always bring up a concern that I never considered which makes me worry even more.

For example, I used to be overweight several years ago, obviously the doctors wanted me to lose the weight. I lost the weight in the last three years and now I exercise everyday and I'm in great shape now. I go to the doctor two weeks ago to get a cyst on my face checked out, and apparently my blood pressure is higher than it should be. Now I'm waiting for the results of a blood test, and I'm just hoping there is nothing seriously wrong with me now.

Sorry for the little doctor rant, I guess there is some truth to the feeling that going to the doctor can make you feel worse afterwards, not better.

Anything having to do with sleep disorders.

For example, Sleep Walking: going to sleep in your nice comfy bed only to wake up at 2:30 in the morning curled up in a ball in the back of your closet...then going back to your bed to sleep again and waking up the next morning downstairs on the couch.

Or even more fun, Sleep Paralysis: waking up in the middle of the night to find yourself absolutely paralyzed while countless whispering voices curse your name in languages you don't understand and a giant ghostly mass of grey glowing mist floats through your house to hover above your bed and morph into demonic faces that laugh at you. The good news is that you're just dreaming with your eyes open, so just close your eyes and go back to sleep.

I once woke up with dead arm, and it was resting on my chest. With it, I couldn't lift the covers and, due to still being half asleep, became convinced there was a giant rat or something sitting on my chest.

So I started to struggle against it a bit, and brushed my hand against my face. My face felt it, my my dead arm ofcourse didn't, at which point I freaked out and started fighting it in earnest.
That went on for about 10 ~ 20 seconds maybe, till I got a good left hook in, at which point my right arm started hurting like crazy. That's when I became awake enough to realize what was going on.

Had the biggest bruise on the arm for weeks. I really nailed me, man.

Not finding my phone only to realize I had it in my hand the entire time.
Reminds me of something that happened to me once. I was walking around then I heard my phone's text message sound so I reached into my pocket to check it only to realize that it wasn't there. So I freaked out because I had lost my phone. Then of course realizing that I just heard it and that I had put it in my backpack.

OT: Girls staring at me. Freaks me out. I remember once at the gym I was working out and there was a girl next to me who had her neck twisted 90 degrees to stare at me for quite a while, I finished 3 sets without her looking away. That disturbed me.

Felling like I'm about to slip with a 400 degree oven in my hands

Thinking I lost my phone or wallet and then realizing oh wait it's in my purse.

So it's just me who finds the sensation of sleep paralysis to be really cool?. I wake up and go "ooh, I can't move" then spend a while trying to move. Eventually it kinda wears off and my body jolts in all directions at once, it's fun...

The paralysis itself isn't frightening, but the shit you see/hear while it's happening can be rather terrifying. It's only happened to me once and I was scared shitless...but it was exhilarating at the same time thanks to the adrenalin rush. As such I've actually been hoping that it happens to me again some time. :3

Worrying that I forgot to lock the door before I left home for the day. In the same vein, freaking out a bit because you can't remember leaving the door unlocked after you get back home.

Coming home and it being dark as hell inside.

Having something overcook or having water overflow.

At night, my glass back door reflects light in such a way that when I walk toward it, the shadows look like a giant shadow spider is walking right towards my door.
So yeah, sometimes I'm scared of my own shadow.

I've had it several times.
Yeah, I've heard the paralysis can come with hallucinations and a strong sense of fear.
I've never had hallucinations but I've had the fear thing a couple of times. I sleep on couch right next to the living room so usually there's a person within a short distance so it puts my mind at ease.

all of these....except the jay walking...i dunno what that is.

trying to remember if i've done my long acting insulin, more worrisome than scary but still scary as if i miss it even a few times then i end up in hospital plugged into all sorts of machines

The warm soupy feeling between your sweating back and the shirt stuck against it.

EDIT: OK, well, more icky than scary.

I'd have to go with unexpected technical issues that pop up since in my work I do a a lot of live stuff, so I will damn near have heart failure when it happens. While trying to give off the impression that I'm calmly fixing it, of course.

When there's a stray hair in the back of your shirt and it hits in you such a way that you think a spider is in there. D:
