The XBOX 360.

It's like a good horror movie. It starts out as a happy gamer playing away, then slowly, it starts to develop problems. You start getting paranoid, wondering if you will see red lights. Every time you turn it on, your heart beat goes up dramatically. This goes on for months, building up tension, before eventually.

It's too late, the RRoD kills your XBOX.

---Then it's time for the sequel---

The sequel picks up directly where "Unreliably scary" left off. After the ambulance crew manage to save your life, the next day you send the 360 back. An entire month goes past in waiting. The gamer goes into a paralysed state, and slowly begins to hallucinate. This is where the story has its "Happier times" moment, before the gamer suddenly comes crashing back to reality upon hearing a knock on the door. The gamer is instantly back to normal and takes out the 360. As the film draws to a close, the screen freezes, and the camera looks into the gamers petrified eyes.

Then lionsgate make a yearly sequel.
I... I think I love you for that. Kudos.

OT:

Imagine about 3 of these things hunting you down, then you've pictured a part of MGS 4.

But if we're talking reality here:
Welcome to the low point in the Uncanny Valley, children.

More recently this has been upgraded to this terrifying model...THE FLUGGENKEIMKREMLE!
Unfortunately I can't find an image but anyone who speaks dutch or has seen Eurotrip will know what I mean...
I knew about the history of the vibrator, though I don't remember where from (I guess Discovery Channel), but about that FluggenKeimkremle...
I'm from the Netherlands, am at least a little more eloquent than most people around me and have absolutely NO idea what that name means, sounds more like german though. Honestly, I think it's just gibberish.

Back on topic: How about all those uncanny-valley an-/gyndroid... things?

also:

In real-life, I guess pretty much anything with alot of heavy, fast-moving components, blunt or sharp, which I could easily get caught in. Basicly any 18th century factory or factories in general.

Scariest real machine created? In this humble poster's opinion, it would be the Katzenklavier.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_piano

Yes... it was a real thing. Not so much scary in the "We're all gonna die" way, and more in the "What hath man wrought" way.

Nerve gases, especially the deliberately hard-to-detect Novichok agents [http://www.scribd.com/doc/18990829/Novichok-Advanced-Nerve-Agent]. A drop can slip through your skin and kill slowly and painfully, and sometimes the only available antidotes are themselves poisonous.

Another scary thing from Russia: Perimeter [http://www.wired.com/politics/security/magazine/17-10/mf_deadhand?currentPage=all], a genuine doomsday device. "If we can't win, nobody will win! NOBODY!"

That being said: dude, Bagger 288. DUDE. Do we get to see it get in a fight with the Constructicons?

I thought things like that only existed in fiction. WHY IS IT REAL? HOW CAN IT BE REAL?

Eeeugh...I feel dirty for being associated with the inventor of this through species.

OT: Crocodile Shears

I can't find a picture, and I don't want to

A torture device, wherein two half-tubes studded with small spikes were clapsed over an erect penis so as to form a tube with spikes pointing inwards.

It gets worse

If the situation calls for it, the device is YANKED off, not disassembeled, which, as you can imagine, rips off the...the...oh Jesus...
