Scariest moment in a non-horror game

While there are plenty of great scary moments from horror games like pyramid head and the haunted mansion from Vampires the Masquerade Bloodlines I find that some times the scariest moments can come from non-horror games were you don't expect it. So share any experiences you may have like this here.
For me I find that the first time playing through the first couple chapters of Half-life to be unnerving. Not knowing what kind of alien is going to drop from the ceiling in the next room or what unspeakable horrors will you see happen to your fellow scientists. It certainly got me on edge. Plus the game is so damn quiet it just adds to the shock when the next thing jumps out at you.

Some of the Crawler bits in Fable 3. That whole part was scary to me. Also, on the topic of Fable, the discovering the music box in the dream. Seeing all those dead bodies...

Oh, and the Dwarvern tunnles in Dragon Age: Origins. I think they did a good job with that, even if it did go on a bit too long.

Those fucking cyclones in Wind Waker. I've never been comfortable at sea since then.

There was this bit in Fallout 3 where I was investigating a random building. It was full of ghouls, which already freak me out. I wandered around and went to another part of the building. I took two steps and I had a "hallucination" of someone or something. I wasn't expecting it AT ALL and it was around 2:30 AM. It was the most recent time I felt real fear while playing a video game that isn't pure horror.

This thread has been done to death but that being said, I'll just recycle my old answer:

Tingle. Yes, this guy:

He's always creepily willing to help Link and I've noticed that he hangs out around kids. In Majora's Mask, he's flying around Clock Town watching some little boy play and in Wind Waker he's actually in jail. You don't know why but there are a ton of kids on that island so the implications are pretty sick. He's like a more subtle Razor Ramone.

The abandoned hotel. Great level.

OT: The flood in Halo. I know, cliche and all, but I just loved the pure, panic induced adrenaline rush when I was firing and firing and the damn things just wouldn't stop!

The boss of Earthbound.

I can't explain it. Those that know, know. Those that don't, should totally play Earthbound.

Fallout 3, first supermutant I came across. I had never seen them previously, never heard of them, nothing. I was just walking around a bus, and I heard something. So i turned around really fast, and there was a supermutant towering over me. I had a pistol and a baseball bat. Just about needed to change my pants after that.

you should probably be more specific and say the FINAL boss of earthbound =P(even though starting from Magicant the game turns into a psycological acid trip)
my contribution?

If Thief: Deadly Shadows doesn't count as partial horror then - The Cradle.

Probably the Project: Overlord DLC in Mass Effect 2. Nothing quite like screeching, garbled electronic screaming that NEARLY sounds human to wake you up in the morning.

Secret demon burned child nightmare room in Psychonauts
<youtube=kYTNT3I6dAo>
I almost cried when I first went in there because of how twisted and sad it was.
in a nutshell: The character is haunted by the time she let the children she took care of die in a house fire. one demon for each child in her mind.

Another Fallout 3 experience here. Walking about at midnight in the pitch black with only my circle of pipboy light to keep me company and a deathclaw flies out of the darkness and attaches itself to my face. I jumped a mile.

A bit older now, in Tomb Raider 2, Temple of Xian: The spider caverns. A dark stone cave section full of giant black spiders that descend from the ceiling's many egg-filled web sacs. As someone who is deathly afraid of spiders, especially theoretical hidden spiders (The kind you know are somewhere but you just don't exactly where...), I always run through that area as fast as possible and gun them all down in the light temple area afterwards.

Definitely. Although I'd give second place to the Gibdo father in Majora's Mask. Come to think of it, lots of Majora's Mask was fucked up. Like the Mask saying 'a puppet that can no longer be used is mere garbage' as it tosses aside the Skull Kid.
