The scariest moment for me, and i will always remember it, was in the original Call of Duty. At the time, being just a kid, i hadnt played a single FPS, just because i thought i didnt have the nerve to. So, i built up my courage and started playing.
(Remember thinking "Meh, FPSs are alright, but just not my thing", and i still agree with that. Except in some cases. WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS OF VALUES!)
A few missions in, there's a part when you storm a house. After a while, i find a staircase that leads into the basement. Theres a corridor at the end of the stairs, so i look left...
AND THEN
forever etched into my memory, i turn around and there stands a german soldier looking at me with cold, pixelated eyes. I freeze. Almost immediately, the german lunges at me with his rifle, and i would probably have crapped my pants if i had anything to crap.
..sorry about that last part...
I know, it doesnt seem like much, but at the time, i was a small child, and the most brutal thing i had done in a videogame until then was spinning turtles to death with a marsupial.
