What, in your opinion, is the scariest scene in any horror movie? Mine would be in Exorcist 3 when the nurse is killed during a night shift at the hospital.

COIN TOSS!
It's subtler than most, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't scare the crap out of me.

I've seen a .gif on 4chan which is from a movie I don't know.

Its basically
a dude raping a women strapped to a bed. At some point he decides to hit her in the neck with a machete, keeps on raping here though. He hits her with the machete over and over again, pretty gory scene. Disturbed me

Yes, the scene in REC where

the firefighter hits the bottom of the staircase

It isn't that scary, you just don't expect it AT ALL. Movie was pretty lame from that point.

Just watched Schindlers List last night, gotta say when Amon Goeth comes downstairs to find his housemaid coming out of the shower and starts talking to her..... Its a horrible scene (its good, but its done so well your a bit queasy while watching it) in which he talks to her and without her saying a word somehow works himself into a frenzy and starts battering her around the room.

Or possily when the woemen get shipped to Auschwitz by accident, and end up going into a long chamber with a lot of shower heads.... that was another very well done scene if a scary. The panic in the room doesnt seem to be part of film at all.

Two words from Donnie Darko will forever haunt my nightmares. "Wake up..."

Seriously, ANY scene that Frank appear in from that film have full rights to be the most terrifying moments committed to film. Except the cinema scene...that kinda ruined him by showing him just a person. He was scarier when you either thought he was a demonic rabbit, or you didn't know what was under the demonic rabbit suit.

Flying monkeys in Wizard of Oz. Stop laughing, i was a little kid and it scared the shit out of me!
Also this. These things had me scared to sleep for days because I thought they were gonna flock to my window and I'd be woken up by them all hovering outside my room staring at me in the darkness.

OH! The Pale Man scene from Pan's Labyrinth. I know it's supposed to be more surreal and other-worldly than distinctly scary, but FUCK! If you DON'T get scared a little by that guy, you have fucking problems.

Yeah, the Pan´s Labyrinth scene is awesome, but scary as hell. The whole movie is pretty creepy. Good call on the Donnie Darko one too.

That whole movie is genius, amazing, but also pretty hard to watch. Going from VERY creepy atmosphere, to plain outright scariness, to moments where you just want to look away. In any other film a guy being killed with a bottle is fine for me, but when the Captain in this film bashes that dude's face in with the bottle, it just lingers on it so much it's hard to watch, mostly since you actually see his fucking face caving in.

Tbh it's just a fucking masterpiece of film-making and it has forever earned Del Toro a place in my heart.

And Donnie Darko is just a plain straight-up midfucking scarefest for me, including one of the best uses of music in any film I've seen (a fuckin Duran Duran song while Donnie goes batshit on a perv's house? hell yes!)

The entirety of Bio-Dome.

Actually, I would say the last half of A Clockwork Orange always had me freaked out.

The scene in The Haunting in Connecticut (2010) where the ghosts are standing around the kneeling boy with the runes carved into their flesh. Scared the shit out of me.

Yes, that's true, but did we forget when
Captain Videl beats the hunter's face to a bloody pulp with a bottle? Monsters are scary, but impossible. Humans doing scary things is scarier because they can actually happen!
