the leviathans from mass effect 3. a species so ancient they are probably the initial species in the galaxy, they created the reapers, they view and use every other species as toys and if the reapers hadnt of turned on them then humanity would of been the next species dominated and used

plus they are butt ugly giant squid thingys
I don't have the DLC that has those and since it's on Origin which I seldom use I have no idea when it's on sale if ever. I've seen the Mass Effect Wiki and those things are huuuge, I'd love to see them in game.
huge is an understatement. reaper sized butt ugly giant squid things

I'm currently playing The Forest on Steam. It's in Alpha at the moment. In it, there are occasionally huge dead sharks washed up on the beach (or dragged there).

I haven't seen anything that could kill a 12- 14 foot shark in the game, let alone several.

...yet.

And that is my fear, I guess- the unknown.

This guy from Shadow of the Colossus. Or the eel from Mario 64.

Yeah, I remember him creeping me the hell out.

But more recently, I'd say the mermaid-thing from Inside. She's like an underwater version of the girl from "The Ring," and the devs did a great job using the creepy music and her hissing sound as she gets close to you to ratchet up the tension during her sequences.

I'll jump on the Ecco train with this mother fucker. Scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Technically it's a sky creature but this is a future where aquatic animals have evolved to the point where they can leave the ocean so I'm willing to count it.

When I was a small bab, I accidentally input a level password that brought me right to the Tube of Medusa.

I never beat The Tides of Time.

This damn thing from one of the Commander Keen games.
Never managed to beat this level, as I'd inevitably get trapped in a corner of the map somewhere, with that fish lurking just out of arm's reach.

I'm working through old classics I never played the first time around at the moment, and the current one is Super Metroid.

So, my nomination is this bastard:

You don't actually have to deal with any live ones, but how has no one brought up the Fallout 4 fucked up dolphins?

Never played the game, but the pic and others like it online remind me of the zeuglodon ( or basilosaurus), a primitive toothed whale from the beginning of the age of mammals, which is pretty cool. I get that, in game, it's more of a mutant or something.

Urgh... I don't like water levels in general.

There was a level in Cthulhu, dark corners of the earth. Not gonna lie...

It made me shiver xD

The jellyfish things from They Breathe were pretty darn freaky.

(It's a playthrough of They Breathe, I don't have any idea why SGF only billed it as Sonic)

That was the sole part of that level I liked. The rest of that was just painful. Hint to game developers: If you set a game on a military(coast guard is close enough in this case) ship, do some basic research first.

Also the mission was bugged for me and I had to download a saved game to get to the rest of the game. Then I ran into another bug at the final boss and couldn't finish.

Not quite the same thing but the giant floating polyp things near the end were terrifying to me.

I bought that game on a whim (and probably on sale) a while back. It went from goofy to downright disturbing pretty bloody quickly.
