I'm actually playing through that one. Stuck in Old Yhadwhatever, with the Blood Starved Beast. But the weird screechy deathshroud monsters littered throughout the level unnerve me. Those loud screechy barks and red eyes. They're like a dickish version of the Ghost of Christmas Future
The Blood Starved Beast was the most problematic boss for me in that game. On subsequent play throughs I was able to get most of them in one try, but I still haven't done that with the BSB. The one in the chalice dungeons was brutal as well
How do you beat it? I've looked up videos and the behavior in the videos is wildly different than the one I fight. I get that you're supposed to throw old rotten blood to distract it, but in video its distracted waaaayyy longer than what I face. And fire paper/torch/Molotov cocktails seems to do no damage at all.
Honestly, like Xsjadoblayde said I just summon NPCs whenever I can. They buff up the bosses a bit, but they're an immense help on letting you actually get aggressive.

Death Beholder from the Labyrinth of Dimension. The damage per sec is just insane. It took me long enough to fight the boss because of my current build and had to come in and out from the dungeon after dying multiple times from it. The devs should consider nerfing it to the ground, this boss is impossible to beat without proper gear -_-

Hiding in a corner of a warehouse as a soviet rifleman while it's getting swarmed by germans and artilly is pretty scary, in Red Orchestra 2 that is.

I haven't played anything actually scary for a while.

Heck, even when I played Eternal Darkness for the first time two months ago, the only thing that actually legit scared me was this incident:

"Oh, finally, I have the healing spell, time to use it"
Narokath Santak Cha'ttu-*CHARACTER EXPLODES WITH A SCARE CHORD*
"WTF?!?"
*respawns outside that room, I have to fight the giant horror monster all over again to get the rune*
"NOOOO"

Undertale. Me. I find myself terrifying in that game. Also, True Lab. The way that game takes something innocent and pure, and twists it into something ugly, is pretty unsettling.

I dont think Bloodborne has NPCs to summon.

It does. as far as I know, all the NPC sidequests are dependent on their summoning.
Ok...looked it up, there are infact NPC summons, but most people (like me) are unaware cause there are only 3 and only early on, and apparently they suck.

They also are not needed for anything apparently, cause I did all the NPC side quests and the entire game solo.

I'm not sure where this idea came from, perhaps people just never bothered to update their information especially when The League was added post-launch, but there are more than three summons. Many of them appear to be specific to chalice dungeons, but there are nine that are potentially available at various points in the normal game, too, up to and including Yahar'gul and the DLC.

And yeah, of course they're not needed for anything. Neither were any of the summons in Dark Souls. That's kind of beside the point, really.

No, I definatly needed those summons sometime. Bloodborne was alot easier to solo...mostly cause it lacked alot of the BS earlier Souls games had.

I have never noticed anything for summons though.

I was testing out The Forest's multiplayer with my cousin (first time playing) and literally felt a real sense of panic when I first saw the natives. Sort of a jump scare, but it lasted for a minute or so after we'd killed the couple that had followed us.

Its not often that I encounter enemies in games that I actually find scary.. but playing through Dark Souls 3 recently, these guys legitimately scared me for some reason.

That thing should of been in Bloodborne, it literally looks like a nightmare creature spawned from that game ... which is funny because From Software made both Bloodborne and DS3 so it's not a stretch to say they placed enemies into DS3 inspired by their successor.

Also the reason they scare you is because you only encounter 1-2 of them in the entire game ... but they're freaken horrifying to deal with. They sneak up on you, move unnaturally, dish out a lot of damage, and possibly get you cursed. It doesn't help that it makes some ungodly unsettling noises when attacking, making people avoid them at all costs. While I can easily deal with them, I admit their design is extremely impressive in terms of scaring the player. Some of the enemies in DS3 are nightmare fuel ... (freaken skull faced dogs).
Yeah they do look like something that might have come from Bloodborne. They definitely are one of the creepier enemies in the game.. along with the long haired spider things, but those are easier to defeat quickly.

Here's where everybody gets to mock me: I find Mimikyu from Pokemon Sun/Moon (I happen to be playing Moon) goddamn terrifying. You're walking around this abandoned market taking pictures of ghost-type Pokemon with your camera; after taking pics of Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar--you know, the usual suspects--you walk into what seems like a small child's room covered with drawings of Pikachu. Your camera starts going nuts and you pick it up to take a pic of whatever it is that is making it go off. You look around the sides of the room. Nothing there. You look at the ceiling. Nothing there. Then you look down at the floor...and there's this fucked-up thing that looks like a child's drawing of a Pikachu gone very very wrong. It says, "Seeeeee meeee?" and you're thrown immediately into a battle with it.
GAH!

There's blood cocktails you can throw to distract him. Makes the boss a cakewalk.

DayZ.

Was in a house looking for stuff when I heard a really loud laugh/cry (sort of started as a laugh and then started bawling).
Scared the shit out of me, and I ran into the woods.

Read on forums later and found out your character can/will go insane if he keeps eating human flesh.

C'mon! Man's gotta eat.

I actually just beat him. Took some grinding, got another 10 or so levels under my belt, got the kirkwhatever hammer sword thing, beat up some witches in the woods and took their stuff, stole some old man's clothing that had poison resistance and went into the fight with Batman's butler at my back.
Still wasn't an easy fight per se, and I used like 10 blood cocktails to distract him and all my molotovs(which are hard to hit with) but I was only poisoned once and only used 5 blood vials.
And boom, finally killed him. But then he didn't give me all the blood echoes from my previous attempts. So sad for me.

Seriously, he must have had over 100,000 blood echoes. Bastard.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I don't think I would really call it a scare, more like a startle but it always comes to mind for threads like these. I was playing serious sam second encounter. I don't remember which mission, but I had just cleared out a room of enemies except I still heard the sound of a kleer, if you don't know it sounds kinda like hoof clops. So I looked around, this was a big open square room with like 3 rows of pillars around each side, I kept hearing the kleer noise but I couldn't find where it was.

Eventually I decided it was probably stuck in the ground or something and proceeded to look around for ammo and hp. I had just grabbed some health and heard the sound of a clear running for me, I turned around just in time for it to lunge and hit me, startled me bad enough that both blasts from my double barrel missed and it kept whaling on me till I reloaded and killed it.
