Scars look cool on anybody, don't worry about it. You can just tell your next boyfriend that you don't take crap and say "this is what I got, you don't want to know what he looks like now"
I think from what she's saying is she has one of those scars that looks like a worm under your skin though...
Yep this pretty much :(
Like Padma Lakshmi?

I have a scar on my stomach that goes from an inch above my bellybutton 90 degrees to the left side of my body. Also, it is raised and messed up due to scar sarcoid.

The only scars I have are on my left arm from when a kitten decided to try out its claws for the first time.

I have two on my left leg. Both from hitting rocks while swimming in a lake in Norway on two separate occasions.

I also have stretch mark scars on my lower back. They look like whips. My mates at school asked if I was beaten as a child. I was blown away when I saw them which was recently. However I have not been beaten at all so it must have been from growing. I did grow 1 foot in a year a while back. We measured.

Hey guys, some of you might think this is a bit of a peculiar place to ask but I'm not really a regular on any other forums and my friends can't help me with this one.

I have a rather nasty scar on my left arm, I may as well tell you that it was done by an ex boyfriend who attacked me with a knife. It's been there about 3 years now and at the time I went into so much shock I locked myself away and never got it stitched or anything.
It's still massive, and it sticks out, you can tell it was never treated.

I was wondering if any of you have ever had treatment to remove a scar, or a tattoo as I hear the process is quite similar?
What was the pain like, how much did it set you back etc?
Adding discussion value maybe you can tell me how some of you got your nastiest scars! x
thats pretty extreme

I have a scar on my lower arm which looks like a failed suicide attempt but is actually the result of my friend rapidly rubbing a plastic knife for about half an hour straight. It didn't hurt at the time, towards the end it got vaguely uncomfortable. The next day though...

I've got one in the shape of a crescent moon on my right "bad-mother-finger". So everytime I flip someone off they see something really nice as well.

Chicks dig scars, and plastic surgery is for pussies. I let the doctors sew up the first two (see below), but the rest didn't warrant medical care.

As for my personal scars:
One near my left cheek bone from jumping face-first down a flight of stairs at 18 months old.
One in the middle of my forehead from falling onto the muffler of a car at 2 years old.
One on the second digit of my left index finger from when I was skiing glove-less and I did a grab trick at 16 years old.
One on the ball of my left foot from having a nail go through my foot at 11 years old.
One on my tongue. Don't ask.
One on my left pinky finger from being stabbed with a pencil at 12 years old.
One right below my chin from bailing hardcore on a ski jump and cutting myself on my own frozen beard at 17 years old.
One near my right shoulder blade from a bad tick bite at 9 years old.
One on each of my shins in the same exact place from missing a jump on parkour and chipping the bones beneath at 15 years old.

If my teeth count, I've chipped at least 10 of them on semi-separate occasions. Some of them have been fixed.

Yeah. I'm cool.

I've got a fair few. I actually think (though my family says otherwise) that I have the remnants of some scars/marks I had from when our dog mauled my face on my 1st birthday.

I also have a silly scar on the outside of the hand (near to the thumb) where I cut myself on the old front door latch. How the hell I did that I have no ideas.

I don't really think much of them in all honesty.

It didn't bother me at first because I just used to think well... it reminds me that I'm still here and that I survived the years of torment he put me through but now it's just starting to make me feel really ugly.
It's not your average scar, it's not just a line on me, it's actually about a centimetre wide, 2 inches long and it's raised from the skin. It looks hideous.
If it affects you that badly then request to see a different GP or make a private appointment with a hospital dermatologist. The NHS will pay for surgery if it's affecting your quality of life (even psychologically).

The only procedures I've heard of are Mircodermabrasion (basically sandpapering the scar) or cutting the scar tissue out and suturing it to create a neater and probably less pronounced scar. You'll probably never get rid of it entirely but they can make it less noticeable and, as I said, neater.

I was looking into having a scar on my chest removed, it was the result of blood play gone wrong and is very noticeable, red and raised, across the left side of my chest. It doesn't bother me that much, it just annoys me that people stare at it sometimes.
I've been advised by a friend already that I should tell my doctor on the grounds that it's effecting my life, I just feel kinda bad because there are people with much worse stuff than me and yes I've suffered depression and various other psychological problems because of him but so do a lot of people that just live with these things.
I suppose I feel undeserving, that I shouldn't waste the NHS's time when it's better devoted elsewhere.

About the treatment I had basically heard the same thing. As it's quite thick I heard it could be cut out and put back together like it should have been at the time. I was stupid not to get it treated, I'm kicking myself for it now.

Why do you want the scar gone, anyways?
I suppose because it reminds me of him. I think it's only bothered me since he got out of prison and I've run into him a couple of times. I would hate for him to think he's left his mark on me, but I guess in getting rid of it that's me essentially saying to him "Here I got it lasered, that's how much you still bother me."

Well, I still recommend just talking to your doctor about it next time you see him/her.

It's up to you. If you feel that you can learn to live with it then it's fine. If not then you deserve treatment in the same way someone with depression deserves anti-depressant drugs. I've heard stories of women getting breast implants on the NHS because it was affecting their lives so badly (to be fair they had normally recovered from an eating disorder).

And I meant to say before, congratulations for coming out of something so aweful with your head held high.
