The Mass Effect trilogy is pretty much king of the hill in the "Sci-Fi Action RPG" department. As for a Diablo style clone in that genre? There are none as far as I'm aware. Borderlands is loot driven like Diablo, but it's full 3D rather than a top down dungeon crawler.

Thank you all for all the wonderful suggestions :) I never thought my first thread posted on this forum would get so many helpful responses :) I probably should have been more specific but what I was really after was a literal Diablo type clone set in a Sci-Fi setting, but there have been several games suggested that I've never played or heard of and I always appreciate new suggestions! Thanks for the help all :)

The Space Wizards (Mass Effect) series fits that mold pretty nicely.
Fallout is also sci-fi if you look past all the post-apocalyptia.
Infinite Space is great if a little niche.

I apologize if this has been asked and answered before, as to my knowledge I've never seen it... Just curious if anybody knows if there are any Sci-Fi Action RPGs in existance? I loved Diablo 2 and Torchlight and games such as those but the only ones I've ever found were very fantasy flavored... Are there any games similar to these but with other genre themes?
On the PC there was a game called "Harbinger" which was okay, but not great. STEAM also still has one called "Greed: Black Border" which was interesting, but had the problem of these stupid "lethal searchlight" type puzzles which kind of ruined the game IMO. There have been others, but those are the ones that come to mind off the top of my head.

The PSP has "Bounty Hounds", "Phantasy Star Portable" and others which might fit your definition but probably aren't what your thinking of given that they are for the PSP and are played from a real time behind-the-character perspective as opposed to a top down one.
