A big meaty Sci-Fi world that actually builds its universe rather than just using for some action scene. Something that's accessible but deep like The Lord of the Rings but for sci-fi.

Who agrees?

I liked the Andromeda Orientation trailer better than the cinematic trailer.

Isn't that Westworld, HBO's other big epic?

I haven't seen it yet but everyone I've talked to who has said that it's basically a Sci-Fi GoTs.

If we're talking about the cultural zeitgeist, Star Trek (and to a lesser extent, Doctor Who) filled that block ages ago.

If we're talking about the same style and/or level of quality, I guess I can nominate:

-Battlestar Galactica
-Babylon 5
-Dune (as in, doing an adaptation that can match GoT's budget)

Honestly, I like/love Game of Thrones, but I don't think an entire genre has to chase its coattails.

The Expanse? I think you're looking for The Expanse
I've seen that postulated as the GoT equivalent, but...is it actually any good? Well, presumably, since you've posted about it, but I just have so little love for the novels it's based on, even if I had access to it through means other than importing the DVD from across the pond, I'd be reluctant.

If only such a series existed ; )

Dune, anyone? Fricking Dune mini-series.

That would destroy HBO, in a good way.

Plenty of sci-fi shows have worldbuilding. Hell, a common complaint is that many have too similar worldbuilding.

OTOH, few match GoT in terms of budget and rape scenes.

old show but blakes 7 still fits the bill
I like Blake's 7, but it doesn't quite equivocate with Game of Thrones.

It's got elements of it, certainly. Shades of grey, many similarities can be drawn between Servelan and Tywin, and both series have the premise of bickering sides who are oblivious to a larger threat (White Walkers/Andromedans). Still, it's not quite the same, as Blake's 7 does gravitate towards space adventure/western, with Blake leading his own personal war against the Federation, while Game of Thrones doesn't really have a core antagonistic force.

But hey, shoutout to another "Blaker." :)

You ask this question, when both your avatar and screen-name represent a central character from Babylon 5 - this is like asking for a rice cracker while you have a hat that dispenses cheeseburgers and blowjobs.

Still waiting for a Quality Voice Acted English Dub.

Or heck a multi-language dub where the Galactic Empire characters speak German for example.

Which one, 3 or 4? Guessing it wasn't 1 or 2, but both 3 and 4 are quite shocking. 4 went out just before Christmas as well.

(Also, not really seeing any way in which Blake's 7 was the same as GoT.)

Might as well produce it yourself then, because it's not happening. For 700 dollars, you can buy the soundtrack.

(I would direct you to something cheaper, but you know the rules.)

All you need now is a sound effects team and a cast. Get to work. The anime community thanks you.

I don't see the problem, though. You wouldn't expect Schindler's List or The Pianist to be dubbed to German/Polish. The series has a good cast.
Oh I beg to differ.

The Pianist would have been even better if the Polish characters spoke Polish.
