Looks like yellow ochre and white. That dress is fuck-ugly, I feel I should add. Sorry. :<

I see white and gold, however, there is a light source in the background so that could be affecting how some perceive it.

I can see where the blue/white debate may come from, but gold/black? You may not want to call it gold, but how the heck does that look black to anyone?

Edit: If the colour corrected versions are accurate, then sure, blue and black as that picture makes it obvious. But still don't see how anyone could be seeing black on that first one.

This basically agrees with what Dirty Hipster said but gives another example.

Original uploader has uploaded another image of the dress, and it is in fact, blue and black.

Mystery solved.

To all those who answered correctly, reward cookies will be heading your way soon.
Are you absolutely sure?
Heh, just for the record, the original image still looks white and gold to me. But it appears the screenshot you found has been altered. Note in my screenshot [http://i.imgur.com/8JS5ypO.png] (taken from the mobile version of Amazon.UK) that there is a square, visible behind the woman, bottom preview, second from the left. To the right is the image that you found. Seems the blue has been removed almost entirely from the image.

The model is almost completely bleached out into nothingness :)

Again, the original photo looks white and gold to me, but I think in the end, all this really proves is the original photo was taken on a shitty camera/potato and the lighting was absolutely terrible!

It's clearly black gold.

But yeah, I see it as Blue and Black. There's moments when someone cranks the brightness up on the picture even more than I see white/gold for a second, but then it goes back to blue and black.

Same here. Seems like someone's having a little fun at our expense. I mean, that's what it feels like. Like something akin to Asch's Conformity Experiment.

Funny, this is the first time I've heard of this aside from Jeremy Jahns review.

Anyway.
It's a white and gold dress under poor lighting.
And I say this a a girl who used to wear really gawdy dresses like this during high school.

It looks like blue and the black you get after leaving darker tone paper out in the sun too long.
I this is completely the fault of the glare or something

I see the dress as blue/purple with BLACK trim every time. There is a portion of the BLACK trim that is washed out by the light and it takes on a gold hue. But, that DOES NOT MEAN the rest of the trim is gold! Some parts of the blue do look lighter than others, but that is just because of the lighting. Unless that is a white dress under a very intense blue light, then it is a BLUE DRESS.

I cant make myself see white/gold in this picture. I've tried (from the first glance to the umpteenth hardcore stare). Apparently I am part of a minority because of this?

I can see a clear difference in the pictures of the dresses people are showing. One is CLEARLY blue/black and the other is gold/white. I don't see white or gold in the blue dress and I don't see blue or black in the white dress (outside of any glare created by light sources).

Yes. Dressgate is now a hashtag that's trending.

Also the Telegraph ran a poll,

Never has one dress caused so much controversy. Never.

I'm not sure where people are getting 'black' from.

Black is a pretty clear-cut color. We're not talking about slightly different shades of aqua/cyan/teal/turquoise here. We're talking about black.

Black is black.

If you see the above color as black, then you might need your eyes tested. Either that or the brightness/color settings on your monitor badly need adjusting.
That looks like (and is) black fabric with a bright light (presumably sunlight) shining on it.

Sure. But apparently people can ignore all that, look at that image, and see the colour on the screen as #000 black, or something close to it. Which...um?

So, what color is the dress actually? Because it looks like we're getting conflicting 'official' reports here.

Or is it a mystery that may never be solved?
Good point. I smell a marketing stunt.

The dress is actually black and blue, but looking at it in photoshop tells us the image itself is gold and an ugly grey blue.

The colors (look about halfway down the page to see the colors on a black and white background):
From a dark part of the black/gold: #4c4026. http://www.color-hex.com/color/4c4026
From a light part of the black/gold: #837048. http://www.color-hex.com/color/837048
From the blue/white part: #7e8ec1. http://www.color-hex.com/color/7e8ec1

edit: I take that back, that blue is actually a nice color, it just looks ugly as sin in that context.

Remarkable. I took a screenshot of the jacket immediately when I started seeing blue. Then I went for a short run (2 miles), came back, and looked at the jacket. It's back to white/gold for me.

What color do you see now?

And just to be blunt, is there really people who have so little in their lives that they have to ***** about a dress material colout? (not talking about anyone in specific here, just humanity in general)
