Oddly, I've still considered it a normal planet since they decided to change it.

Why? Because you cant just change your mind about shit like this scientists!
So your periodic table of elements still consists of "fire, earth, air, water" and the solar system orbits earth in deferent and epicycles while being submerged in luminiferous aether?

5 moons? When did they announce the fourth one? *looks at diagram* 2011? :/ And for those of you saying why isn't Pluto a planet, well, we found another dwarf planet that's 4% larger than Pluto, known as Eris. And if we consider Pluto a planet, we'd have twice as many planets as we do now...

I don't care what the muckety-mucks said, Pluto never stopped being a planet. Earth is a "dwarf planet" compared to the gas giants but I don't see anybody looking to demote it.

As for moons, I am clearly behind the times. I didn't know Pluto had more than one.

Yes they can they do all the time. It's part of science. It's not holy scriptural, it's science it evolves and changes due to the facts surrounding it.

Yeah screw the people who studied this there whole life. Lets listen to someone who has no idea what they are talking about.

That's quite a few satellites for such a small piece of rock (space scale). Why can't Earth have more moons? Only Mercury and Venus don't have any and everyone after and including Mars has two or more! I demand more moons!

Anyway considering Pluto and its status of a planet - it's not. It was but is no longer, get used to it. Adapt! That's what humans are good at, right? Adapting to new shit ;) Quasi-planet sounds cool, lets petition scientists to call it that! :D

And it seems captcha agrees on Pluto being a Mass Relay. "Bon voyage" it says :p

Another moon, man the little guy is full of surprises.
I say Pluto should get it's planet status back because it is kind of the underdog planet, and I'm all for the supporting the underdog.

But the more planets we have in the solar system the more torturous it will be for the kids in school to learn them all :p

For an object in the solar system to be a planet, it have to pass certain criteria, such as being spherical. One of the criteria is having a gravitational pull strong enough to keep small objects to go into orbit around it, and this is the criteria that Pluto doesn't pass.
It's all a matter of definitions, and it doesn't change Pluto in any way. I find it strange that so many people are against calling it a dwarf planet. I mean, it's still there, it's not gonna go away because it's sad its no longer considered a planet by us :p

Oh, I'm familiar with their reasoning. I just don't care. It's a planet because it was a planet when I was a kid and learned them all (along with all the moons known at the time, I was a smart kid).

Come on kids! let's go over the planets! There's Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Eris, Makemake, and a bunch of other ones.

Edit: typos

Don't you guys realize that we are the laughingstock of the local stellar neighborhood? I mean, seriously, it was bad enough when we only had nine planets to our name, but then we demoted one! You should hear what Wolf 359 says about us behind our backs.

Are we going to let that carry on?! NO, I say! More planets in our ranks!

Because, unless they were perfectly opposite each other, they would play merry hell with tides and weather patterns.

I love how one of the dwarf planets are named Eric, while all the other has cool names. I can imagine when they discovered it, they were like "Oh, look, another dwarf planet. Sigh... What should we name it? Any ideas? Alright, let's just name it Eric then, and call it a day."

Poor Eric...

Pluto should totally be a planet! Always has been in my mind. No need to try and change around what most people already believe.

If you want Pluto to be a planet then we need to name the 70 or so other 'planets' that have been found near Pluto, and Pluto is among the smallest of them.

Maybe they'll classify it as a dwarf planet or something. I can see that happening.
Uh, news flash, they already did classify it as a Dwarf Planet, about the same time of that controversy about it not being a classified a full planet...
Thanks, mate. (Is terribly behind on astrological information.)
You meant astronomical. Astrology isn't science, it's superstition pretending to be scientific.

Also, they should have given Eris the name Rupert instead, dammit (a cookie for anyone who gets that).

I thought it was more not clearing out the other stuff along its orbit.
