I am Scottish, and although I may not have all the facts and figures, I am perfecttly happy as I am being a part of Britain (Although I wouldn't mind adopting the Euro for simplicity)

Oh how awkward >_>

On the actual subject: Doing this without a Public Vote seems like a very risky decision, one which I disagree with
Well, I'd say if he is in power completely, he wouldn't need a seperate vote on it. Seeing as how it is one of the partiy's main focuses

Personally I'm all for my home country going independent. We'd be economically stable since all the north sea gas is Scottish property.

Keeping the pound makes sense since its the strongest currency in the world.

Plus I'm tired of english idiots complaining about how we are a drain on their resources and wish we didn't exist and yet don't have the balls to support independence.

So hell yeah independence please since westminister is incapable of doing their job correctly.

Hah, take your bloody independence, lets see how your economy survives without the rest of us. Its like the UK trying to pull out of Europe, sure, we'd all love to, but the economy wouldn't survive without the free trade the EU provides.

But yeah, go for it Scotland, we'll just be sat here waiting when you want to come back to the United Kingdom.
As i said, we'd be perfectly fine economy wise due to us having the rights to the north sea gas/oil reserves. Plus we know what we're doing and west minister doesn't. Student fees for example, we don't dump on an extra 2k just for the privilege of graduating.

No no no no no no no NO!

Gah, get this idiot out of power. Independence will bring no benefits, if anything it'll bring trouble. What is he wanting us independent for? So he can feel better about himself? Some twisted patriotism?

It is 200 years too late, these are the times for the EU and other such organisations.
Funny you should say that since we have effectively been forced in to the EU without any form of vote.

The fact is the whole Scottish Independence thing has lost it's impetus. the SNP came to power riding on the wave of long term Tory hatred based on the poll tax and Tatcher hatred, yup over a decade ago and the Scots still can;t get over it and terminally boredom with Labours total lack and ability to carry out anything it said it would do.

One of their key policies being that it would give the people of Scotland the vote on becoming truly independent. At the time the country and world economy were pretty healthy and the SNP genuinly and stupidly believed the people of Scotland wanted to be independant of the rest of the UK.

So the promise of the vote within 2 years came about. The problem was the world economy went tits up and anyone who even had the slightest thought of independence suddenly had much larger concerns on their minds, primarily could Scotland survive in the current climate by itself. The truth was no one really wanted it before the global slump and Scotland couldn't have survived by itself even before the global downturn.

The problem though is the SNP came to power with this as it's main sales point and here we are now over two years later and no vote. The SNP know for a fact that most Scots given the vote right here and right now would vote no which would be a major embarrassment for the SNP. Their is debate that the SNP know they would lose the vote and that the very fact they came to power on the back of the independence vote is essentially a sword of damocles hanging over their political heads. Much talk is being said about the fact that they should hold the vote watch it fail and bury the subject for good. That way the subject is done and that's that.

This is the sensible option but of course the SNP are a bit blind as are most nationalist parties so knowing they would lose the yes vote and lose it badly the only way to get round it would be to force it through without a vote, after all the UK government got away with it with the EU referendum so why can't the nationalists get away with it as well.

I didn't vote for the SNP and I don't support independence and to I am sick of this government focusing on this now very dead subject. It needs to get it's head out of it's ass and

a). Get some focus on what it is doing with the hospitals. This is of concern to me because the SNP said they would not close any hospitals yet my local hospital, one I attend on a regular basis for my diabetic treatment and the one where my mother works has been going to the ropes for the last few yearsand no one there knows if it is to be closed as part of Labours final ass rape of the Scottish public or weather the SNP will hold up their end of the agreement.

b). Get some confirmation on what they plan to do about the countries very imminent energy crisis. The government seems to be on some delusional airy fairy idea that green solutions will do it but the reality is they won't, the one solution and the ONLY solution, nuclear power is the one solution this idiot of a government has ruled out and right NOW right NOW ,literally, is the time when the solution has to start being build to stave off future brown outs caused by lack of power production.

End of the day just remember that this government did not get in by a majority vote, it had to form a coalition with the greens to gain power, that says a great deal about this government and it's going to cost this country a lot in the future.
