I don't mind it - I prefer growling, though. It's different, I swear. I find screaming too harsh, but I won't not listen to a band just because the vocals irritate me. I generally make allowances for music that I enjoy, despite the vocals.

I love Bring Me the Horizon.
I think bands like Architects are good, the screaming shows pure aggression, rather than talent so to speak.
Check out this song by Architects - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgZWEAhj3Uo&feature=fvw

I prefer other bands such as Parkway Drive, August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada though..

As for beatdowns, otherwise known as breakdowns, its like the metal version of a drop in dubstep I guess. They sound amazing for bands that can pull that shit off.
Hardcore/Grindcore/Beatdown metal is good. It takes over your life if you love it enough :D

If you want to hear the best low screamo, Search for Lamb of God - In Your Words.

His voice is pure brutality.

I would like to know how people feel about screaming in songs. Do you like it or would it make you dislike the song instantly. Personally, I used to be in the latter a few years ago, and wouldnt touch a song with screaming in it,but my friends and I discovered many great bands that use screaming as part of their songs ie Alesana, A Day To Remember, as they use screaming and singing. Ive even gotten into The Devil Wears Prada, even thought they mostly scream. However, I still cant listen to Suicide Silence or Job For A Cowboy.
I think you would like Attack Attack. They suck too.

How can't you listen to Suicide Silence? They're actually good.

Here's a list you could use: Lamb of God, In Flames, Devil Driver. Just for starters.

To all you who think metal is screamo, you're retarded. Metal is good for one. Second, screamo is a bunch of bitchy kids crying, throwing an offhand scream in the mix so their fans think they're "hardcore."
To hell with Attack Attack and their stupid crab stance.
But ill agree with you on Lamb Of God and In Flames. Awesome bands. I just dont like suicide silence personally. I do like Afterlife tho for some odd reason
Suicide Silence's vocals are absolute talent. His scream is so brutal and flawless.

i honestly can't stand it, and find it ruins an otherwise decent song immediately, i'm not completly against it, i do like metal, its just like watching a peacful bunny grazing and out of nowhere some guy hits you in the back of the head

While i detest screaming in most songs for the simple reason that it doesn't sound nice, i do like "Born of Thunder" by Destroy Destroy Destroy. It might be because i liked the instrumentals so much.

For the most part i can't stand it. Its annoying and it gives me a headache. The only time screaming works for me is when the rest of the song (which had better be awsome) was sung normally and now were at the finale and we're using all the energy. Fear Factory's Invisible Wounds is a good example of this (too bad most of the bands other songs is just screaming).

It depends on what the screaming is like. I love it when Matt Bellamy screams in his songs, however in some other bands i want to fucking rip my ears out.

I used to not really like it, the only real screaming I had on my iPod was SOAD, and they really don't scream that much, but recently I've been getting into it more. I don't like the -cores, the high pitched stuff, but I do like growling like some people have said above.

im not saying that i like listening to nonmusical text rhiming, but I think the screaming is necessary if youre listening to heavy metal. if they sing it mostely doesent match.
