Never had an avatar, probably never will. My screen name comes from a D&D game I DM'd back around '82 or '84. I was attempting to describe a wererat, and one of the players blurted out "It's a werepossum!" Tea and beer were blown out noses, and the image of a man transforming into not a wolf, but a devious, scavenging, ambling, upright man-possum has struck me as funny ever since. I also use possumtrot sometimes - if you've spent much time around possums, you know that even when very startled they generally move relatively slowly, but occassionally they will actually raise up off the ground and run very quickly. In that state they can't really maneuver, just run straight ahead (albeit quickly), and it looks hilarious.
That player was about three sheets to the wind, and also came out with "nobgoblin" trying to say "hobgoblin". That was pretty funny at the time too.
