Screen-Recording

I need a screen-recording program (preferably free). Here's what I need it to do, record a fixed area of my screen and have it record audio directly from my speakers (not through through the microphone).
Can someone help me?
I already tried CamStudio, and its not a game I'm trying to record so don't mention Fraps.

I was going to say camStudio but i couldn't get it to record sound. My second suggestion is Camtasia, it worked very well, not free though.

If you don't mind a 10 minute time limit for the free version, Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 should work good. Just remember to simply click next when it asks you for a product key.

I've gotten fraps to record stuff outside of games though. I think you just have to click the aero monitoring option, but I'm not sure.

Not sure if this is exclusive to fraps, but even a couple minutes that I've recorded on it made a few gigabytes of video, which was odd. Maybe there's some setting to reduce that.

You can actually reduce the size of the video recordings from the raw video it records with another program. It cuts down the space greatly. I only use FRAPs, but I'm sure it's not exclusive to FRAPs.
