I killed Crawmerax like 9 times and didn't get any pearlescent weapons.

I know the drop rate is low, but screw you, Borderlands, I'm far too impatient for your shenanigans.

Oh, what's that Saladin? The numbers say your Camel Archer has a 97% probability of winning this battle with a half-dead Archer? Well, screw you.

Also, something must be said for playing every Pokemon game between Blue and Leaf Green and not once seeing a Shiny.

Then there's the Wabbajack. It seems that mine is a little bit biassed towards the "Even more threatening enemy." transformation.

Trying to assassinate a level 1 diplomat with a level 9 assassin in TW:Medieval 2.
95% chance of success you say? Excellent! *Assassinate*
Mission failed!

Mission failed!

Mission failed, your assassin was killed!

Repeat for 15 more times.
Give up and try again next turn.

I really think that game has hidden modifiers for spying/assassination/burn heretic missions.
That happened to me my first game. I hate assassinations. Always work for the enemy, never for you.

Second game, Faction Leader v lvl 1 assassin. 1% chance of success. Mission Success. After the first game, you have no idea how much I was laughing.

As a man who got both a SHINY MEWTWO and a SHINY CHARMANDER on his Pokemon Red game within the span of the same year, I don't think I can complain about random chance.
Especially when there's a d20 I have that rolls 20's like, 80% of the time. I have decided this dice is the God of Chance. I name him/her Revan.

Bulbapedia says they started appearing in Gold and Silver, but since Leaf and Fire are remakes, I'm not sure.

I can assure you they most certainly do.
I've had a shiny mewtwo, charmander, 2 x Pidgeys, ghastly and an oddish.

M:TW is sneaky that way. They actually roll the random chance dice in the beginning of the turn to prevent exactly that loading/retrying exploit. What you need to do is use up the poor die roll on another random roll (for instance a spy check or an easier assassination mission) and then try again. Think of it as the computer having rolled a whole bunch of random dice behind the scenes, and whenever it needs one it takes the one on top of the pile.

Monster hunter will see you now. that is all.

Over 200 rathalos kills, yet not ONE gem. (it usually takes around 10-15 mins to kill a rathalos in a decent group, and 5 so minutes to organize)

I remember trying to get the final form in Kingdom Hearts 2, which you had a random chance of getting after a certain fight. I have played through that game 3 goddamn times and have never got final form.

Yeah, I've figured it was something like that, very sneaky.
