Ben Afflick is 6' 3". Henry Cavill is 6' 1".

Staring at nipples was kind of a deliberate exaggeration, but the notion is still true. Even if she's tall for a women, they're still tall for men.

As for using camera magic... of course they could. But heels are way easier. And, you know, there's also the 'hot heels' angle.

As a side note, do her feet look super tiny to anyone else? Distractedly tiny, in fact?

It's kind of weirding me out.
She wouldn't be dwarfed that much. Though it is odd to have a Batman that would be taller than Superman. Still, they won't be putting Cavill in heels to make up the difference because it is supposedly easier so why for Gadot? Outside of making her seem more feminine, which is a useless distinction in battle, and just makes it seem like they want to tokenize her as "the chick".

And he feet probably look tiny because of the heels. Since her feet are angled upwards when you look at her from the front it makes her feet look smaller.

Needs more muscle. And less skin. I saw a preview image with IronBatman, so why can't Wonder Woman suit up to the extreme.

Maybe, something like this. Just as an example. Make her footwear closer to combat boots and less heel, that would be cool.
Wonder Woman is one of the few female characters that can get away with showing skin, both, because of her Greek roots and her near invulnerability. They are going in the right direction but her "skirt" could be longer(its not necessary though) and she, as always, needs straps to keep her top from slipping off.

And yeah she looks like Xena but she probably should have been rocking such a look for a long time anyway. Both characters come from stories inspired by Greek myth, so I don't see why its a problem. Its certainly better than her going around in what looks like an outfit for the Miss America swimsuit competition.

On a related note, since Superman draws his power from the sun and he is invulnerable, he could probably do with less clothing and still be fine. Gotta soak up them rays right?

Uh oh they picked the version of her costume without long pants!
Take a shot every time someone calls this sexist.
True to form, the first person to bring that up in the thread isn't someone calling it out but someone assuming that they will.

Did someone say tilting at windmills?
predicting a knee jerk reaction is different from imagining one.
If everyone on the internet collectively goes "hmm, this is clearly an aesthetic choice and not a commentary on the inherent gender rolls of every female on the planet" then I'll be the one with egg on my face.
But that's not where the smart money is.

and by "smart money" I of course mean "I'm still talking about a comic book movie on an internet forum, and a much more productive use of my time would have been crying my self to sleep"

I just did a text search for the word "sexist" on this page.

You're the only person to say it so far, apart from me just now.

Guess I'll be staying sober tonight.
Noooooo!

Well the news just barely hit. give it a few days

Fair point. Can't disagree. I do dig the second image you posted. I'd be happy with more of that. Scaled armour, kickass shin-guards, swords and shields.

Folks have been messing around with filters and the like. It looks IMO more Wonder Woman like with a bit of color added in.

I didn't think she'd look like a good Wonder Woman when she was announced and I was right. She looks...petite. But that could be because I already know she's a shortie and I expect wonder woman to be tall.

Not sure I approve of the combat heels (though at least they're not stilettos or something equally impractical), but other than that... it actually looks something like what a warrior would wear to battle.

The stillettos are a bit odd
It looks to me like they're solid raised heels, not stilettos. The angle and lighting make it kind of difficult to tell though.
They're raised heels.

Of all the things, that bothers me least. Mostly because they'll probably raise that poor girl up a smidgen so she's not staring at everyone's nipples throughout the entire movie.
Where are ya'll getting the idea that she is short? Not defending her as choice or anything because what I've seen from her acting does not impress me(She was in the Fast and Furious movies and had a cameo in Date night. But for an international model turned actress I guess she does alright), but Gal Gadot is 5'9". Which for a woman is pretty tall. But what I wonder is if movie magic and camera angles can make a 5'7" Tom Cruise look the same height or taller than his co-stars without heels why do they need to put them on Ms. Gadot?

....Besides the obvious its a lady and thus flat footwear is a no no... Some "Greek" looking strapy sandals would look more appropriate, especially once covered by the armor that she is wearing in the picture .
So she is. I could have sworn that when she was announced, I looked up her height and it was 5'3". Must have confused her with someone else. And it turns out she's actually been working out a lot for the role, which to be fair may not be evident in promos that are more photoshop than photo. Alright, I'm cool now.

There is no mistaking that she's a slender woman. But here she is with her co-stars just for comparisons sake. She is most certainly wearing high heels here. And I'd say in comparison to older pics of her she's filled out some. She can't compare mucle wise though.(not that she needs to be hulking but there are high school female track and field athletes with more mucle tone...)

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Even just a little bit of dark blue makes this looks way better.

Make the corset armor ever so slightly red tinted (You could probably do so and make it still look like bronze) and you have a winner.

As a side note... why would they mess with the filters, when it makes it look worse? The same could be said of Superman and Batman. It's like they don't want us to like the look of this.

And this.

I mean, not that I mind her looking like Xena. That actually makes sense (Amazon and all). It's just a bit... dull.

Although, if she does the Xena ululation... well, that would be completely awesome. ^^

No clue. I guess same reason that Superman isn't all bright blue. They want it to look "serious" and kinda grim and not like kid stuff. But if peoples anecdotal evidence is true even non comic book reading folks think that the promo image needs some color, so there is hope. It may only look this washed out in the image.

Real talk....Lucy Lawless should have been in a Wonder Woman movie all those years ago. DC fucked up when they didn't just go for it.

I'm still perplexed this person got cast in the first place. Bad actress, too skinny, isn't famous... why would anybody cast her?

So photoshops of the trinity together. And IMO batman looks out of place. I know what version of Batman they are going for, but he looks so old fashioned next to the other two. But maybe that is the point?

I'm afraid to say it, but it may be because she's 5' 9".

Or it may have been a budget thing. I can only assume Ben Affleck kickd the actor/ess budget square in the balls.

It can't be a budget thing, Gina Carano looks spot on, is less known, would probably charge less and is already dating Cavill. What more do the execs want???

The more I look at Gal Gadot's face the more miscast she seems...

Gina Carano is in the process of working on two movies, one a comic book to movie (Lesser known one), and second a female Expendables.'

Though I agree, she's almost spot on for Wonder Woman. Though perhaps he relationship with Cavill could be considered a bad thing.

Batman looks right, Superman is passable, but this....this is just as much a let-down as I knew it would be. The costume is a monotone Xena ripoff and the actress looks about 5'4" and 110 lbs. Fail.

At least she's not attempting a cheesecake pose.
