i do realize what you mean by all this shady stuff, and how people...my goodness people treat games like shit, there are some ridiculous thigns out there i've seen happen to games and the conditions they come back in.

but i love used games and the prices they bring in, so when i do buy online and stuff, i do tons of checks on the products/the sellers/if they are giving good enough pics/etc..

sometimes you get the shitty product, thats part of used games, but if you give that bit of extra care i tend to get amazing prices and end up saving myself a good 70 bucks or so each year from buying used stuff online rather than new

especially with the psp cases...i know EXACTLY what you mean about the games getting touched more than a fucking hooker (seriously..wtf...this makes the most illogical of sense)
Aye, Sony Put a case round 90% of the UMD so you dont touch the inner Disc yet most of the games I get seem to have almost no fingerprints on the case and tones on the disc xD

Took me 15 mins to get all the fingerprints off a copy of tomb raider legends umd i got a few days ago xD
literally this astounds me, how can someone touch the damn disc itself that many times but then the case will be near flawless for prints or anything? i mean wtf? do you take the disk out and cuddle with it when you go to bed orr ...? (not at you, just figuratively speaking out loud)

That being said I can understand in used games loosing the manual but the box? DVD Cases are rather large, and I will admit they can get lost too, but sometimes I see people selling a lot of games Unboxed no instructions on PSP, PS2, Xbox.. you name it and im thinking how can people loose so many cases xD Honestly I saw someone on eBay the other day selling a good 15 or so UMD's Unboxed saying He lost the boxes HOW?!
To be fair... I sold a bunch of my GB color and GB advanced games and its very easy to lose boxes like those, since they are just cardboard.

But yeah,w ith modern day plastic boxes, I cant imagine how you lose the game. thats why when i buy from Gamestop (well, I have a friend who works there, so i get friends/family/employee discount and he keeps all the best condition games he gets as returns for me separate) I only buy the ones that have the original box and that I can open and check.

One: I'm not afraid to admit that I spent about 2 minutes staring at your avatar before formulating a response.

Two: With that out of the way, time to get on topic!

Three: You know what annoys me the most about used games I've had in the past? It's not the condition of the discs, surprisingly I've had remarkably good luck with used game discs, what annoys me most is the state of the fucking manuals!
Seriously? What the hell do people do with them? I've had ripped, torn, battered and beaten manuals that look like they've been fed to a dog, hell I've had several manuals with stuck together pages which honestly makes me wonder if the previous owner went ahead and blew a load in there.

Why don't people take care of their shit? Why don't people take pride in what they own?
*Sigh*

Maybe Final Fantasy 8 was just that damn good xD

I've had better luck with manuals then the media looks like were kinda polar opposites!

All you can do is leave them bad feedback. Don't buy anything from anyone with no feedback either.

Typically the types that do this will notice your bad feedback and try to make some sort of deal with you to get it removed. If you outright refuse, they'll likely just make a new account with a quickly generated email account, so get what you can out of them.

What did you expect? Smart people who don't want to contribute anything, just pirate their games.

Who sratch, chew and fuck on their games? The retard demographic.

Well Gamestop is usually really good about giving you a used game that's in good condition. They checked the games that I traded in and when I get used games they show me the disk so that I know that its in good condition. As for eBay, that's what you get for buying something without seeing the picture of it. You can't guarantee that these people don't just want to get rid of their old, beat up game even if it means ripping off some shmuck on the internet. I'd say just be careful about what you buy off there.

Im rather shocked to see that im the only one bothered about used games conditions xD
Possibly, yeah. I've broken a good few UMD cases in my time for my PSP, but it never seems to affect the game whatsoever.

This is something you take a risk with when buying second hand. You're paying £5 because the disc is old, possibly scratched and isn't brand new. Nevertheless, that doesn't get past the fact that these games are in horrible condition. Why anyone would let their game get punished like that is beyond me. A new game costs £40, why you would let that go to waste is just foolish; you wouldn't burn that £40 would you?

The problem is a problem with society as a whole. I'm sure many of these games are one's that mommy bought. And here in lies the problem. If you don't buy something with your own money/work, you will never appreciate it or take care of it. Example, my first car, my parrents paid for (luck me) and I drove it like sh*t and didn't really take care of it. The next car I had to pay for myself, and what do you know, I took care of that one. The same applies to rental games/other items. Why take care of something that is not yours or your responsibility?

The same goes for government housing projects. The people who live here need a place to live, but they will never really appreciate the house or take care of it because they didn't have to do anything to get it. This is why they alway turn into slums. The slums get bull-dozed down because they become un-livable... they build more and they too become un-livable.

So the problem you are refering to does not stop with games. It is a much larger issue.

Well, all I can say for you is to look for a real used game store and buy there. That way you avoid gamestop's nonsense.

I take damned good care of all my discs, and I expect guests to treat my games with the same care they'd take for their children.

I don't know, I mostly see the ridiculously overlit retailers, the ones that use those horrid flourescents that used to show up only in rest rooms to show every scar, zit, and ingrown hair you've had since the age of four. I suppose retailers with por lighting are harder to blame, but they might want to check the disc inbetter lighting, given they can take a hit from both sides.

Still, I rarely have this problem, so I don't know how frquent it is anyway. I'm not saying it never happens, just that I (almost) never see it.
I have just got to see your games retailer for myself. Though my own uses flourescant lights, they're not very bright ones. I'm guess that's management cutting costs. If the retailers had the time they'd probably run every second hand game the receive through the disc cleaner/buffer machine they tend to have.

That sounds like what my local retailers would do.
