I recently noticed a thread on favourite minor characters, but I'm going to the far end, so not just often-recurring friends of the main character.

This is so minor that the character might as well not've been in the game at all.
I'm talking about those one-hit wonders that were literally only seen for a second or so throughout all the chaos of gaming, but stood out plainly in your mind.

Characters who's names made you giggle appreciatively (e.g. The very first Call of Duty's expansion, in which you come across two privates running side by side. Private Gordon and Private Freeman), or just were incredibly memorable feature-wise, action-wise, or whatever.

So, gaming community, who at the very end of the character-spectrum was your favourite?

I'd have to say mine was Crazy Harij from NOLF 2. I admit he made several appearances, but overall he was relatively low on the importance level. I would furnish you with a link to see him with, but unfortunately I have been unable to find one.

EDIT - This can also be for movie, TV and book characters, though game characters are the driving force.

Practically every Grunt Soldier from Gears of War. (Excluding Carmine.)

Either that or Birdy from Conker's Bad Fur Day.
He only made several appearances, one of which was a minute or so in length.
I don't recall if he appears more than twice.

The construction workers from Halo 3

Seriously, what were they thinking? "Oh yeah, me and my buddies can take on this chieftain with only pistols."

The Hackers' second line/personality in Universe at War:

"Would you like to play a game?"

That, or king Theoden in LOTR: Conquest. He is an extra in a grand total of TWO levels-- and he dies five seconds into his second appearence.

I liked the busty Telma in Twilight Princess. She kept giving Link those "<3" looks and it made me giggle, especially when I caught Link checking out her boobage.

...

Was I the only one who couldn't stop looking at her chest?

"Nah... Biiiirrrdeh, ah scare birdehs"

I love him and his drunken theme music.

Gotta love how insanely useless he is in the overall theme.
Despite giving you a guide, and taking all of your much needed Helium!

The soldiers played by the Roosterteeth guys in Halo 3. Different in each difficulty level, but funny throughout.

In the original Call of Duty and it's expansion, at certain points you come across one soldier dragging another one (who is supposedly injured) to cover. I loved that, it really made me appreciate the chaotic nature of those particular levels (invading Ste. Mere Eglise and repelling the Germans in Bastogne, respectively).

CoD 4
Private Roycewicz: the guy you save on the stairs.
The Farmer: a random guy you save from some Russian Soldiers.

Halo 3
Any Grunt
The Guy you walk past just as the flood arrive, crying about how the flood just killed his squad members. I always think this is one of the more immersive sections of the game. Even though it's only in that room.

Gears 2
Dizzy: Granted he has a major part in an entire chapter and he's a playable character online, but he's not majorly important. "Them tickers are ugly, and Betty don't like ugly!"

If anyone has ever played Call of Duty: Big Red One, there is a character named Parker who you meet and is killed in the same mission, at Gela. He literally gets killed a few minutes after you meet him, and everyone acts as though they've known him for years, but I can't help but feel a twinge of sadness as I watch his corpse fly a few feet through the air, to land unceremoniously in the dirt, only to be trodden underfoot by his comrades-in-arms.

After I saved him I did what I sometimes do on CoD games, and any others with one-time characters (killable) like him - I followed him everywhere, trying to prolong his life for as long as possible, untill his eventual death, after which I would stare sadly at his corpse before moving on, motivated by the future prospect of Macmillan.

Absolutely. They show up for seconds, but I remember them more than anyone else. Probably one of the best games of all time.

Do these have to be in games?? as i just watched a few minutes of the utterly shit alone in the dark movie ,and met a security guard who seeemed to know everything about everyone in the museum ,i called him "Plot exposition man"and when he invitadbly died i wonderd "Who is going to convey the story now????" he was single-handedly the best actor in the whole film

Dr.Ragland from Prototype. It's more of an inside joke... but the protagonist stumbles into his office, in horrible pain and screams "Ragland!" several times and passes out. So every time I went to see him, I just pictured him yelling at him in that pained tone. Makes me giggle.

Also, the mission where you have to protect him, and the protagonist yells more didn't help me to take it seriously either. It just sounds funny.

Marines in Halo 3 at your first encounter with the flood. They do nothing but die, grunts do a better job than them.

It seems characters from Halo are going to be mentioned most.
