Secret Fallout 4 "Treasure" Room Contains One of Every Single Item

A simple console command will teleport you into Fallout 4's secret "treasure" room.

While most gamers are content to play through games "the right way," sometimes it is fun to be a cheaty mccheaterson and find the coolest and funnest ways to break the game. In Fallout 4 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/fallout%204?os=%20fallout%204], a secret "treasure room" has been discovered, and is an absolute cheater's delight, containing one of every single item in the game. Want a fat man launcher? Done. How about a full set of top tier armor? Yep. Maybe you just need some god-damn duct tape for a weapon mod? It's all here, and it's fairly simple to get to - provided you're running the PC version of the game.

To get to the secret item room, simply open up the game's console by pressing the tilde (~) key and type the command "COC QASMOKE". You'll be instantly teleported to the room, which contains chests full of every single collectible item in the game, a dozen or so full suits of various types of Power Armor, and one of every crafting station so you can experiment to your heart's content.

The QASMOKE room is somewhat of a staple in Bethesda games, appearing in almost the exact same capacity in 2011's Skyrim. It appears to have been put in as a way for playtesters to get their hands on every single possible combination of items in order to test them for bugs.

For the moment, it looks like you can only get to the room in the PC version of the game, as there's no way to get to the console in the Xbox One or PS4 versions.

To get out, simply use the COC teleport console command to teleport you back to another part of the wasteland, for example, "COC REDROCKETEXT" will send you to the Red Rocket gas station.

This really isn't a secret, anyone who's ever played a PC version of an Elderscroll game knows this exists...

How is this news or even a secret? Are we going to see a news post next week saying a magical cheat to get infinite caps has been discovered only for it to be the console command for adding caps?

Are you even a gamer, Steven? It's a Bethesda game. Of course there's such a room. It's the same command from Skyrim. Everybody knows this.

That's about as secret as any debug menu - because it is a debug menu. It's not a secret because it's not part of the normal game, it's a testing room.

It was in Oblivion and Morrowind too. Bethesda standard. I've noticed a couple of these articles about console commands that aren't really news, so why the repost of this from another site?

I thought this was a common knowledge thing with Bethesda games. Not sure why it merits any sort of article on the subject. Especially when you note in the article itself that it's a recurring staple from Skyrim. Not to mention Oblivion or Morrowind.

I guess for the few people who haven't figured this out it's nice to know?

First it was walkthroughs being posted as 'Featured Content', now cheats are being posted as news.

What happened to you, Escapist?

I suspect it's an attempt to get a slice of the 'internet views' pie.

Because when we search google for "Fallout 4 Treasure Room", look what we find at the top:

I'd be careful with that! There are some pretty heavy spoilers floating about. (The kinda spoilers that can ruin the story for you. Think Bioshock 1 or Bioshock Infinite levels of spoilers.)

Anyway, I guess... This site does seem rather Fallout 4 mad right now, (of which I'm also contributing to).
Hell, just check out the stats: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/top_games

This is hardly news to most people, but I imagine there are people who are new to Bethesda games.

I don't have the game yet, but I know these two commands will also work.
player.additem f 100 (give 100 caps)
player.additem a 100 (give 100 bobby pins)

How do I know this? Because those commands do the same thing in Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim.

This one should work as well.

That's not the only anomaly... "GTA IV PC" is listed under the XBL list.

Still, I assume the Steam listing is largely correct, and as of now it tells a very Fallout-y story.

You mean the secret treasure room that's been in, like, every PC Bethesda game ever?

I might have to use this. I play on easy and I'm dieing around every corner. I have already had to TGM my way through several encounters just to save myself 20 minutes of wasteland wandering (IE: reloading) so what's another cheat to the bucket of failure.

Just as a point of clarification: these rooms have never been a cheater's cache...considering that they're absolutely redundant to anyone who wants to cheat. If you're going to be using console commands to get into the place, you can certainly just use console commands to give yourself any item in the game while remaining in the comfort of your character's home...or your character's neighbor's home...or out in the middle of the wasteland...or anywhere else in the game. Rather, these rooms are developer caches that are used during development for various testing on items. Considering the existence of console commands, the only cheats actually worth reporting or mentioning are cheats that work on console versions of the game.

This smart-ass moment brought to you by a random jackass on the internet. :3

(Edit) Also: IGN reported on this "secret room" last week. :p

While we're on the subject of cheats, "tgm" not only toggles god mode, but it also make settlement-building absolutely free (ie: it costs no resources/scrap). You can just keep placing down objects to your heart's desire.

Once again, this was probably to make it easier for Bethesda to playtest the base-building mechanic, without having to add every item through the console manually.
