I've played that game. I remember being stuck on the swamp monster boss for ages. It was a great game though. I consider it an example of the good things that Square used to be capable of once upon a time.
Dear God do I hate the swamp boss.
Yeah, the way I remember beating it was grinding the spear up to level 3 so I could throw it at the damn thing.

Pretty much the only way you could do it. Bleh. And getting to him...

You're referring to the maze of bridges filled with those annoying frogs that somehow still caused knockback?

Yep. Though I found out you could skip a good chunk of the area if you kill the frogs that activate bridges with a spell.

I love it but I had to play it twice to beat it. I found a game locking glitch in it that ruined the experience.

Edit: I misread your post, never mind. Yeah that would work.

No! Oh the hype surrounding Skyrim between it's E3 reveal and it's launch (before anyone had played it) was ridiculous and vomit inducing. People calling it the GOTY or the GOAT months before it even came out and people acting like this was the first game to ever have fuckin' dragons. It's been over 5 years now, it's time to remember that there were other and better ES games before Skyrim.
Skyrim is pretty much the best Elder Scrolls game to date.
Oblivion certainly had it beat on quests and I personally preferred stats over perks. Skyrim's dragons were the equivalent of Oblivion's gates, both were annoyances that people wanted to avoid after the first few.

I loved this game so much I beat it at least three times. I can still remember the robo-dog from the last area popping up toast slices from its back when it barked. And Ivor Tower/Ebon Keep. And having to fight a wall of speakers and fans, for some reason. And the Roman gladiator in a chariot boss battle. And that there was allegedly a magic spell called Sting hidden in the desert that I simply. Could. Not. Find. I searched for it for hours and never found the guy who gives it to you. And I remember the bittersweet ending, where you raced against time around the disintegrating world...

Also, screw that first boss Thraxx. Don't know how many times I died before I was able to beat him.

I found it okay with an interesting premise, but Secret of Mana was far superior. Evermore's Alchemy system, while unique, was far too dependent on having a guide to know where to find all the rare formulas and ingredients. In fact IRC, one of the ingredients for the Call Bead (aka 'summon spell') formula had a limited amount in the entire game unless you knew what glitch to exploit.

Because each individual incarnation of a weapon (4 swords, 4 spears, 4 axes, 4 projectile weapons) levelled individually, levelling them to use charge attacks took even longer than in Mana. Mana was longer and had multiplayer, while Evermore wouldn't even let a second player be the dog. The boy was funny at times though: 'Whew! Those guys were a pane in the glass.'

It wasn't a bad game but sadly it had the misfortune of being based around the SoM engine. And lets face it, when you have multiple games on teh same enginbe, it's typically the better one people will remember.

I remember this game. I was disappointed that the power moves with the weapons were the same spin-and-throw move. I did like the alchemy system, the futuristic toaster-dog, and the final boss music. Not a favorite, but I would give playing it some thought.

Well, having just turned back to it, thanks to this thread, I just dealt with him. Unfortunately, my spear wasn't at level 3, so I had to empty my supply of Flash alchemy on him and hit him with a few level 2 spear throws. I tried to sic my dog on the wisps so I could have a clear shot at it.

Well, you're going to have a tough time convincing anyone unless you start typing more like a calm and collected individual. I'm already convinced, since I've played Morrowind and Oblivion, and have a roommate who's played every Elder Scolls game since Arena, but this sudden burst of anger and disgust will only paint you as the crazy guy with the billboard shouting at people in the street.

Gotta love those who hate when many other people enjoy a game too much. /s

Skyrim is still a damn good game on his own. But the ES fanboys instead of going "did you like Skyrim? Then try Oblivion/Morrowind. They are even better and you'll probably like them too", they go like "you shouldn't like Skyrim! Oblivion/Morrowind are far superior, but as usual people know nothing!".

Maybe I should send his responses to Jim Sterling for his aristocrat persona.

I want to know why you're having an argument about the Elder Scrolls in a thread about The Secret of Evermore.

I am 100% behind this idea.

Because the OP mentioned that the composer is Jeremy Soule and that he is the same guy who made the music for Skyrim (and even put the Skyrim theme). Then someone got a knee-jerk reaction about Skyrim being highlighted and you can see the rest.

Huh? I think I missed the joke there.
