Ditto. Had me looking for ages, until I got pissed off and killed Smiling Jack and low and behold. XD (I looked up and it just said Evergreen Mill Bazarr)

I found the Alien Blaster by accident. You know if you give it to the Outcast Brotherhood they only give you 20 fucking stims for it. I loaded so fast o_O

I ended up looking at a walkthrough to get the proper ending to Chrono Cross, because its pretty fucking hard to get if you don't know what you're doing.

Suprised no one has yet mentioned the 'I Would Have Been Your Daddy" skull on Halo 3.

Actually, the skull on the Ark level (I think it's Famine) is most easily got by using two players; one stands on the other's ghost to give him a boost. I was proud of the fact that I figured out how to get the skull on your own. You have to wedge a Scorpion tank to use as a brifge (killing all the NPCs so they don't drive off) before fetching a second tank to drive over it and give you a boost.

That is actually one of the few things I found in Fallout 3 without looking it up; just shot it's owners as I was done trading and decided he deserved to die. Imagine my surprise when his corpse had that lovely thing on it

The Zodiac Spear in FFXII. There is no way in hell anyone was supposed to know which 4 chests not to open, seriously.

Ultmia Keyblade, Fenrir Keyblade, the secret Katana in Fable 2, the Fierce Deity Mask in Majora's Mask, the skulls in Halo 3, and most equipment in Dynasty Warriors 3.

Yea that was just plain silly. Nobody got that without a guide or someone telling them.

FFT:
- Steal EVERYTHING from Elmdor.
- Getting hit with the "Ultima" spell when Ramza is a squire allows him to learn the spell. Who the Hell would want to convert back to a squire at any point? Same with the final summon that I can't remember.
- When fighting Steel Giant No. 8 the most powerful weapon and most powerful shield are in the ground (Use the Move-Find walking ability)...and they have the names of the worst spear and worst shield in the game. You have to check their stats to find out otherwise.

It's funny that you mention FFT! I was playing FFT:WOL for the psp just this morning, and I was trying to find every hidden item in the extra dungeon. I thought to myself, "How the heck could anyone find all of these items without gamefaqs?" What a weird coincidence....

I found that easily without a guide.
In my defence that lovely lady from IGN did a guide to it, the alien blaster and the lincoln repeater before I had the game. I'm happy to let her talk about anything.

I probably never would have found the Alien Blaster in Fallout 3 without a map.

Elmdor was hard as Hell to steal from. You had to fend off both assassins, attempt to steal from him, and on top of that manage to heal yourself whenever he uses his lethal samurai techniques.

Use this character makeup:

Monk Class
Samurai or Lancer's Jump as secondary
Counter
Teleport

You have won the game. I might actually give it a second run here to make Ramza a magic user. The one thing I LOVED about FFT was that it didn't matter what level you were, the enemies would go up in level with you. The way to succeed was have the proper job points and knowledge of how to overpower the other guys.

I think Golden Sun, wins the medal for the most hidden weapons/armor behind secret bosses. It had like 5 secret bosses in the whole series (1 in the first, 4 in the second) that you either had to fight through a ridiculous number of puzzles and battles to get to or explore a tiny island in the middle of the ocean (where I was certainly happy to have a map ingame).
The kick in the pants is that you can't obtain the most awesome and destructive summon in the game until you find all the Djinn from BOTH games then transfer the ones from the first to the second. That's a hell of alot of backtracking and you STILL need to defeat a boss (likely the hardest in the game - a trend Final Fantasy should never had started).

Not saying that it wasn't a great game, the puzzles were better than most JRPGs but I did have to buy a strategy guide when my natural instincts and the ingame clues weren't enough.

Legendary weapons in Fable 2, sidequests in Zelda, the HM DEFOG in Pokemon Diamond...the list goes on, every game has stuff like that.

Yes. FF VII: Knights of the Round for the win.

But basically anything that is really hidden in an RPG is impossible to find without a walkthrough. The way I go about any game is to beat it once for fun and by myself, and then play through it again for all the secret stuff (and achievements on 360). That way I can enjoy it without worrying too much about missing things, and I can still see everything that I missed in my initial playthrough.

Cheers.

The one secret island level in Golden Sun.

Fierce Deity's Mask was...difficult, to say the least.
