That ONE mini game in Final Fantasy IX. Everyone who's played the game knows what I'm talking about.

I. Hate. Slogs.
What??

How can you hate slogs?

Look how adorable it is. :3

Plus when you posses a slig, you can have a slog follow you and have them attack other sligs! >:D

...

Oh wait. You mean THAT kind of slog. Sorry...
LOL that was priceless, I needed that laugh. Also nice avatar, love me a bit of D2.

I tend to hate very specific sections of games that I replay, so much so that I usually end up finding the particular section nowhere near as hard or annoying as I remembered it.

That being said I don't like driving sections that appear in games that have no business having them. The races in Giants : Citizen Kabuto for instance, oh gods the nightmare.....

I really dislike sewer levels because devs always seem to go for this huge labyrinthine system which is incredibly easy to get lost in and they all use the same ugly and copy pasted scenery not only adding to the ease of getting lost due to every damn thing looking the same but also making it really bloody boring because the devs want you down there for a good thirty minutes or so to justify the existence of the level.

I'm not sure I have ever experienced a legitimately good sewer level.

I suppose there's Metro: Last Light but then a majority of the game is underground so they didn't do it totally half-arsed like most other devs do with sewer levels.

Quick time events which aren't part of the combat or ones which are unforgiving (like Remember Me's).

However tower defence style missions ruin the game for me, I see the appeal of defending an objective but usually it gets dragged on for so long that it becomes boring. When it becomes boring I begin to become irritated. It's the reason I think BioShock: Infinite has a worse final level than the first one because at least protecting Little Sisters made it seem like I was doing a good job.

Anything to do with protecting something and timers.

The former is bad because the AI is just..always retarded, and the latter because fuck you don't rush me.

For me its a forced stealth section in a game that is not a stealth game or a horrible escort mission.
And this is why I'm having trouble finishing The Last of Us. I love stealth but I don't like it to be forced.

Also, the winner of this thread will be timed missions. Fuck them. Especially when the whole game is fake timed mission. I'm looking at you Dead Rising

Anything that requires me mashing a button on my controller to the point of breaking it or I fail.

A notable example of this would be the rematch race against Canary Mary in Cloud Cuckooland in Banjo Tooie.

I hate the intro section of Skyrim. It was all right the first time around, but if you're creating a bunch of different characters, it's annoying as hell to sit through it over and over again. They should've programmed in some kind of option to skip it if you've already made another character.

It autosaves before the character creation part so just don't overwrite or delete that save.

I concur on the mandatory water levels in action games, so slow and tedious. Also, stealth sections in a game where it only apears in this particular spot just to piss you off, then you never see it again.

Isn't stealth featured prominently in the Last of Us? Uhhh...

I Loathed the bridge in Anor Londo with the 2 Dragonslayer Greatbow Silver knights because nothing quite says awful like a long series of narrow walkways surrounded by bottomless pits that are covered by 2 snipers with heavy knockback weapons

Also Peragus but thats my fault due to starting that game so many times that at one point I actually knew the voiceprint code and the door lock squence by memory

Unskippable tutorials. These are esp. aggravating when they tutorialize utterly asinine shit like opening a door or climbing a ladder or anything else that any idiot should be able to figure out on their own. Shut UP Navi, I know how to open a fucking door!
I definitely agree with this.

One of the worst offenders is Call of Duty. As much as I do actually enjoy playing CoD, there have been what, nine? main games so far, I think I know how to fucking aim, crouch and throw grenades by now.

Second half of the last mission in Killzone 2, I hate Rocket Launcher wielding Helghast.
And to add salt to the wounds: They appear more often in Killzone 3...

And 2 levels in Painkiller:
Snowy Bridge and Docks

Going into the dream section in the mage tower in DA:O and of course the remote control missions in GTA:SA.

Unskippable cutscenes, especially in games made to be replayed (yes Soul Nomad, I know exactly what happened prior to the game after having seen the intro and recap for 8 cycles, just let me skip the bloody thing!).

Escort missions. Hate those with a passion, as I like to be alone and do things my way (just did a mission in Skyrim where I had to have 3 goons with me at all times, because somehow the quest giver thought I wouldn't be able to handle a single dragon on my own. Good thing those guys were set to essential, or they'd have died in the first room).

Timed missions. Screw you game, I want to take my time, but no, I have to rush.

Rhythm mini-games. Those kill the game for me, especially when the come completely out of the blue (GTA San Andreas had many of those, and I had to cheat on the first one to get past it. I stopped playing after the second).

Labyrinthine levels. Specially those cases where the map is of little help. For example, the Fae in Dragon Age: Origins.

Also, levels were the difficulty spikes with no relation to the previous section. For example, the trial of Archimedes in GoW: Ascension. It was so hard compared to the rest that I just stop caring if I finished the game or not.

Obligatory vehicle and turret sections; pretty much any part that changes the game into something else. Something worse. Such a waste of time when I could instead be playing the actual game I was having fun with. Unfortunate since so many games, especially shooters, choose to go this route.

That's why Crysis 2 is cool. No BS; it's like 99% shooting, and 1% everything else.

Forced escort. Especially when the person your escorting is a retard that runs into all danger and you cant control when they stop. Hate that so much. Just give me an option to say "wait here" and then i will clear the whole area of enemies. But nope, that would be to easy. Look at that level in Dead Island where you have to escort that witch doctor guy - game saves as the battle is happening and your screwed if you dont have the right weapon to deal with the amount of enemies thrown at you. Pretty much game over and start again.

- Puzzle levels that break the flow in action/adventure games. One particular ones that I hate are the ones in Devil May Cry franchise.

- Timed missions.

- Escort missions.

- QTE's that insta kill you if missed.

I really hate the cut scenes, especially (and of lately in the new Tomb Raider.
For example:
Once you've slaughtered dozens of people in cold blood and through ambushes, the cut scenes kills all the feeling. Lara is scared of gun fire: check. Lara is listening to a madman's monologue with a clear shot of a bow: check. Sadly the game didn't let me even skip the sections.
Hopefully the next iteration will keep Lara quiet and bad ass.
That's all.

I love Dissidia (both of them) to death but I HATE the grid stuff in the story mode. I just want to fight battles, don't make me do this min-maxing boardgame stuff inbetween.
