Oh look, another gimmick for the Wii that proves you shouldn't consider it a proper good quality games console, and that gives most people yet another reason to take the mickey.

Next time Nintendo, just say "Hey, we hate our console and want all you guys to hate it too." It'll save you all that time and money on design and marketing, and it still won't alienate the fan boys.

Well, if it has the wii remote inside it, and wii motes by thenselves can break TV screens, so i dont see why this wont be able too.

What I really want to know is, what does the Wii Motion Plus do? That cube thing at the end of the Wiimote is supposed be a motion sensor or something? Isn't that what the Wiimote is? o_O
The Wii Motion Plus has a Gyroscope in it. While the WiiMote itself has some accelerometers. Accelerometers are good at detecting more swing type movements, while gyroscopes are better at sensing twisting and turing types of motion. Combined they make a very sensitive controller. And I think the reason that Nintendo didn't use it from the beginning is that gyroscopes of that size and caliber may have been prohibitively expensive when they were designing it. But I'm not sure.

The guy in the video calls it "ultra-realistic." Well, how hard could that be to accomplish? It's a ball.

It's too lightweight to simulate anything about bowling, or break anything. These people lie.
On a separate note, why buy a wii and subsequently this accessory when you could, y'know, go bowling.
Well, I already spent money on the Wii Bowling Lane accessory, and the Wii Nacho Dispenser accessory, AND the Wii Bowling Buddy accessory. Going to a bowling alley would be a waste, and also silly.
yes and how much did that cost you? i bet over 100 dollars? you could prolly go bowling for a lot less.

This Bowling Ball/Weapon is both not needed and is sure to cause a lot of broken furniture and empty wallets when somebody buys it and realizes that it is a waste. On the bright side, anyone who buys it will have something to put next to their Wii Boxing Gloves!

Anyone remember the news story about the lady who killed her dog with the wii-mote (Oh... I said it, and it can't be unsaid, except by clever use of a backspace, or EDIT). Yeah, the neighbor gave the pup CPR, but this is likly gonna kill some young animal, or child. Worst of all, what about all those poor, defensless HDTV sets that will get smashed by this? Yargh.

i think the biggest brain fart with this thing is the fact that when playing a wii bowling game, you often are endlessly passing the controller to the next player. seems like people would get tired of securely fastening the wrist strap after just a couple rounds, and that's when this thing ends up embedded in/smashed against someone's tv

Apparently it improves the motion reception or whatever. Best answer is on the Zero Punctuation episode on Wii Sports Resort.
It is crazy on accessories for the Wiimote. I saw a whole aisle dedicated to them in Best Buy. It's not like it's a new thing though. There been accessories done for consoles before, and even PC's.
As for bowling, I prefer the real thing. It's actually a lot more exercise, and better social life inducing.

But, there's always bowling in Liberty City.....

The wiimote will come out untouched.

I'm sure there's some sucker out there that can't handle the abstraction between the remote and actual bowling.
I'll only look at it in a positive light if it'll join the other accessories that can be used for Mario Kart (try playing Mario Kart with guitar controllers).
