The system requirements for Guild Wars 2 are likely to be moderately low (my conjecture) and I KNOW the requirements for TOR are low, so really, most lower end systems should run it. However, ideal build would be basing it off the new Intel i7 2600 processor, one of the best you can get and at a reasonable pricepoint. I'd couple it with a Gigabyte motherboard and a 4GB stick of DDR3 1600+ mhz, and as for the GPU, well, the nVidia ones are nice kit, but the AMD/ATI ones are cheaper and about if not more efficient (It kills me to say this). I'd look up a graphics card performance comparison (sites like Atomic PC and Tom's Hardware are a good place to start). You can easily top a 420 for performance at lower cost. Now, depending on your nationality, choose an online computer store, (I'm Australian, so I use umart.com.au and PC Case Gear), and put in your parts and request assembly, +50 bucks for assembly, usually save around 100-120 bucks simply by doing it online, 50 bucks or so for postage, you come out on top with a build you couldn't get in a store. A friend did similar recently and is getting something similar for $1200 AUD, with an ATI 6970 or similar, with an extra discount though. Getting it custom is usually cheaper, I'd spend a fortnight on research, make sure you're up to date, fire off some emails to the assembler before ordering, you could get a great gaming rig, even to run easy to run games.

Sorry About the wall of text.
I'd recommend against the i5's, they're going to be bottom run VERY soon, new i7's, the "Sandy Bridges" are already coming, and some have predicted an i9 model for the near to distant future. As much as I like nVidia's tech and ethos, I would recommend against their cards: They're expensive. Make sure you are getting the best card for your money.

Depends on the parts. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/buyers-guide/2011/05/10/pc-hardware-buyer-s-guide-may-2011/3 is roughly right to be honest, even if you choose not to overclock. You'd just be losing out on the overclocking potential of the i5-2500k, but you replace it with an i5-2500 and save £15 without losing out.
is the sample build they provide a good rig for that price? it's a little more expensive but the one i was looking at is aparently awful =p
Wait what? £645 should be less than 800 euro, not more.

just a thought, Don't put to much money into the build, the rig should not go over 850? if you plan to play those games (monitor and keyboard etc excluded) otherwise worst case would be that you have a very expensive box you don't use

I would say that your GPU may be too under powered for today's games. Here's a link which compares it to the latest GPUs. I would recommend searching google for how well that card can run the games that you would like to play. Although if the games you like to play are not that graphically demanding than you are probably fine.

Although 800 euros seems like a lot for that desktop I would shop around more check out TigerDirect.com or NewEgg.com if you haven't already done so.

Welcome soon to the PC gaming master race; you will no longer be a console 'tard.

Someone said the graphics card is the most important bit for a gaming rig. This may be true, but it's also the easiest to upgrade.
This is true, but pre-built systems tend to be very cramped inside the case. There's actually one thing worse than having a powerful rig bottlenecked by a mediocre graphics card, and that's buying a new graphics card and realising it's too large to fit inside your case.
This is not even mentioning the fact that upgrading a pre-built's graphics card will nearly always necessitate upgrading the PSU as well, which in a cramped case is pretty finicky and something a person with little hardware know-how will probably want to avoid.

I believe you are asking the wrong people. Try "Tom's Hardware".
Those guys are pro in assembling any type of PC. Just give them the budget.
These are just some gaming forums, not very good for asking about PC deals.

I've never had a pc before let alone a gaming pc, and the only games my laptop can run on a decent level are wow and league of legends.

But i really want to get into PC gaming, mostly for The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2, and some other things like amnesia,tf2,starcraft etc.

So i've found a reasonably priced(800 euro) desktop at a pc shop near where i live, but i haven't picked it up yet, and the specs seem decent but any advice on changes would be greatly apreciated!

Model:iXtreme 5726

Processor:Intel core i5 processor

Memory:6GB

Hard Drive: 1TB

Graphics Card:1GB NVidia GT420

Oh and also I'm pretty sure building one is almost out of the question as i know almost nothing about the guts of technology or building anything

One thing you should do that I ALWAYS recommend to people, is have 2 hard drives, minimum. Use that 1 TB drive for your games, and get another 1TB, or smaller drive for your OS(Operating System). Most people don't realize how much this increases their game performance. When you have games and the OS installed to the same drive, the seek times for data can increase because the OS and the game are accessing data at the same time. Having 2 hard drives mean that the OS and the games can load and seek and access independently, without fighting over the who gets to use the read heads, increasing load/access times.

I had a quick gander and they really do seem like they know what they're talking about. There's even a 500 dollar setup on the front page that is an absolute beast for that price.

So, I fully endorse this product/service.

And the CPU cooler could be cut from the equation as well and just use the stock one.

You meant an overpriced Dell?

go to cclonline.co.uk

then go to gaming sections, they have gaming setups that you can buy, and you can edit all the parts to what you want, then they build it for you

but i wouldnt go with what you have there, the GPU isn't all that good
