If you would have fully read my post. You would have seen that I stated that they are unknown where i´m from.
I did, and if you fully read mine, you'd see I was merely pointing out that in the UK they aren't.

Frankenstein drag queens anyone?
I know them, got into them after listening to Murderdolls. Also a Devin Townsend fan to the max.

As for lesser known bands I like, how about Salem, Orphaned Land, also Paradise Lost
Do you know about what happened between Salem and Varg Vikernes?
lol yea, he sent an explosive to Salem in the mail. Can't believe he's been released from prison now.

I'm rather ashamed to admit I know this, but Interpol is on Rock Band. So I'm guessing a lot of people know them.
I know MSI, but only two songs. Shut Me Up (Which is amazing) and their very shitty cover of Tom Sawyer.

Colour Haze is a cool jam band
Check out their Cds Tempel and their eponymous album
Also Clutch has a sweet blues-rock sound
The Beatles, theres more there than All You Need Is Love and Yellow Submarine
and if you're an emo out there, stop listening to Eleanor Rigby YOU ARE RUINING IT
The Beatles. You're joking, right?
Everybody knows the Beatles. And, Where I'm from, everybody knows a ton of Beatles songs. I like the Beatles, I am an old school kinda guy, but my friends just take it too far, and it's become a horrible addiction.

OT: The Offspring. I know they are leaning towards being a pretty popular punk band, but no one I know besides 2 of my friends actually listen to them. And if someone has heard of them, it's only because of You're Gonna Go Far Kid or Kristy Are You Doing Okay? Which are two of their shittiest songs to date.
Sum 41, is also very unknown where I live.

Probally these guys.
The first album I ever owned was one of theirs, so they have a special place in my heart. Not as large a place as system of a down, but a part nonetheless.

Nightwish
Obsecure? Your joking right?
I live in Michigan about an hour away from the Upper Peninsula. The people that I talk to have not heard of Nightwish. So yes, where I live they are pretty obscure. Where you live they are not most likely.

Renard. I know he's not super obscure (he has played MAGfest, after all), but he's still much less known than he should be. He's one of the best techno artists out there today. He can do pretty much any style at will, and make them all sound amazing.

I love this band more than I can express, they restored my faith in people.

Craziest live show I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

I could go on, but I'm tired. Also Neutral Milk Hotel, discover them for yourself.

I can't really say, because the town I live in is musically retarded. Hell, Muse is somewhat unknown around here. Plus most of what I listen to that seems lesser known is Aussie shiznit.

I like me a bit of Grizzly Bear, Maximo Park (Probably better known over in the UK, but they're pretty much unknown in Australia), Gyroscope, Children Collide, End Of Fashion, White Rabbits, and Karnivool. There's more, but I feel like a lamo as is.

Social Code. I love them but nobody knows them. :/

It seems like Skillet isn't very well known either. Not from my experiences anyways. But I love them too. :3

Actually, I really like them too. :) So I know of them at least. I love "Falls Apart" and "Last Words."

Check out Phone Calls from Home. They're a new band that's just starting to get recognized. They have a Myspace page, so check them out.

I dont know how well known they are elsewhere in the world, but no ones heard of Mattafix (possibly my favourite band) or The Black Ghosts from where I live. Noir Desoir is a fantastic French band (though everybody would know it in France).

Tonic had one mainstream hit, but it was the rest of their album that impressed me. Sigur Ros is fairly famous I'm pretty sure, but once again obscure where I live. As are The Crystal Method and Air.

Under the White Dime

And now that I've been a dick and named a (now broken apart, actually) band from my home town...

Just going to throw this out here. Anyone else heard of Capharnaum?
I know of them via Trivium. I don't get why everyone has Matt Heafy's vocals, they sound fine to me.

You are correct
Five Horse Johnson, Dozer, Truckfighters, the two bands mentioned above, Firestone.. a lot of fairly obscure stoner bands. Some of them quite noticable in the right circles, but not known worldwide.
