I guess I'm for any scenario that would end with Sega making Shenmue 3. I'm not sure if them releasing a console would really help in that department, but if it does I'm for it. Actually, I'm pretty sure that no matter how flop-tastic it's going to be, I'll buy one if it comes out. I love my dreamcast. I just wish it was less noisy.
I know this isn't something sega has done in the past, but some backward compatibility with dreamcast games would be sweet if only to avoid hearing all the noise my dreamcast makes.

Who could forget The House.....Of The Dead? Best rail shooter ever made.
Being the best rail shooter ever made is kinda like being the best sonic game in the last 10 years.... still sucks.

(I probably could think of something funnier than the best sonic game but I don't have the time. Sorry to not be as funny as I could be)

I really wanted to say "One console to rule them all" .. but Sega, please, do your best first.

There was nothing wrong with the dreamcast - I could even risk a statement that it was the business management which ruined it, not the quality or the performance of it.

Sega told me a long time ago that they don't plan on doing another console.

They seem to be software development and arcade gear.

I would love to see Sega try a console again but someone above said that Sega is losing money and closing arcades and they may be right in saying that it's wishful thinking. That said, I wish they would; I'd have to see it before I'd consider buying it. I've lost any loyalty to brands/companies a long time ago.

but the only decent thing Sega's released in the last decade was Condemned: Criminal Origins, and they screwed the pooch on that with the sequel's absurd plot.
Uuh, Virtua Fighter 5?

Please, please, please tell me you were being sarcastic.
Shan't.

Although the fact that shots from the game are actually spliced directly into death scenes in the film might be a giveaway.

Ok, so here's the deal. Back when sega were big and giving nintendo a run for their money with a 5 year old console, I was a massive fan. I still am. After the Dreamcast, which was spectacular btw, It all seemed over. Sega had gone the way of 3DO and Atari. The idea of a new Sega console fills me with a kind of joy, but it's hampered by doubts of their ability not to fuck it up. Sega have been dilligently working on some brilliant arcade games and absolutely fantastic console titles. I would not be surprised if they were able to build a machine that could outpower the PS3. I can imagine Nintendo actually upping their game if faced with a real threat again. The big problem is that Sega just isn't that widely recognised anymore. Microsoft and Sony are massive. everybody, even non gamers, know who they are, and Nintendo have been around for ever. I think ideally Sega would need to taylor their machine to gamers. sort of like the exact opposite of what Nintendo did. If they did that, they might stand a chance

I just hope they dont give the responsibility of launch titles to sonic team...

But if they can do shenmue 3, a new panzer dragoon or condemmened [without stupid sci-fi power bullshit] or even another valkyria chronicles, then it might possibly worth checking out.

But im not going to raise my hopes

OK we are 2-3 years into this gen. We already have 3 different consoles fighting each other for supremacy. The economy is in the toilet. Even if they were to make a more powerful machine it would still require the software to utilize it. That would take time and since gamers in general ae not the most patient bunch I don't think it would be in Sega's best interest. Maybe in a few more years when they start announcing the PS4 and the Xbox 720. Although if they are backward compatible then Sega is S.O.L.

Arise chicken, arise!

Bringing this thread back to life after reading about Sega Racing Classic (aka Daytona USA HD).
Sega's had a lot of time to lick their wounds after making some HORRIBLE hardware marketing decisions (the 32x, the Saturn, Dreamcast's rushed Japanese release) buried them in the late 90s. I think it'd be pretty juicy if they came back and tried to enact revenge on Sony by phasing out the PS3 with a killer HD/Blu-Ray Sega system, that's a throwdown I'd like to see! I might even buy one! (even if just for the sake of saying "I bought that DC2 when it first came out - now no one has one!")

I didn't think Sega could fail any more than they currently do.

Let me guess, launch title is the new "Sonic and Noah's Ark" Where sonic takes the role of Noah and has to stop eggman from flooding the earth! It'll be family friendly fun!

I'd rather not.

At the same time, if they say Sonic Adventure 3 is coming on it....I might change my mind.
